Becoming A Pirate

Chapter 3

I was peacefully sleeping when I heard yelling. I thought it was the crew drinking as it wasn't uncommon for the men to drink while on voyages. I heard their footsteps that were clear as day. It was very hard for me to sleep so I awoke. 

Those men have no respect I am the only woman on board, but the men on this ship should have some decency to keep it down so that I could at at least sleep.

 I lit a candle and decided to change as I was not going  to go on deck where it probably is cold in my nightgown. I grabbed my favourite dress that I was wearing the day before as I was too tired to look for one of my other dresses. I put on the dress, grabbed the candle while I slowly, and quietly opened the door to the captains chamber. 

Before closing it behind me I went to check father's side of the chamber. He wasn't there. He must still be up I thought. I then closed to door behind me quietly.

I looked around to make sure father had not seen me, I did not want to talk to him just yet as I was still upset at him.

 I saw Philip and whispered to him "Philip, what's going on?" He looked at me and nodded his head not to come close. I was confused so I decided to creep and look at what was going on.

 Oh no! It was admiral Williams he was on our ship. I looked up and saw his ship which was right next to our ship. There were two other soldiers behind him, and he was standing in front of father. 

All the soldiers on our ship including Philip were all standing straight and weren't even moving an inch.

"Captain Lockhart, I have finally found you." Admiral Williams did not seem to pleased with father. 

"Did you really think you could hide from me? That's where you were wrong." I wanted to say something back to him, but it was not my place to say anything, and I could make the situation worse so I just kept watching.

 "Give me the map Captain Lockhart give it to me now! "Admiral Williams yelled when he said that to father."

"I cannot sir." Oh no father what are you doing. I was worried for father, I may have still been upset at father, but I still loved him, and did not want him to get hurt. 

"What do you mean you cannot! Don't test me Captain." Admiral Williams looked so mad it looked as if he was going to explode.

"You will not be able to read it sir, I'm sure you know the legend." I was afraid father was in deep deep trouble and there was nothing I could do to help him nothing at all.

 I wanted to cry if I only I could require a weapon. Father had taught how to use a sword when I turned ten. He said it was just in case I needed it in the future to protect myself. He never let me carry a sword though he said it was too dangerous. 

"You mean to tell me you are the only man who can read the map? Well then there's only one way to solve this then." Then I saw something horrific I couldn't believe my eyes. Admiral Williams had grabbed his sword and stabbed father.

"No!" I cried, then ran over to father and held his body. "No, father no please." I couldn't stop crying. "I'm sorry father, I'm so sorry." I kept on crying and crying. 

Philip then stood behind me. Father looked at me, put his hand on my check and in his dying breath said "don't be sorry my Elizabeth, you have nothing to be sorry about, I love you." 

Why did this have to happen father was the only family I had. He then closed his eyes and his hand hit ground. "No! Father! No!" I screamed and cried over his body.

Philip then bended down and whispered in my ear "Eliza get up."

 Philip was right I needed to get up, I needed to be strong. He gave me his hand and I grabbed it, he then helped me up. I looked at admiral Williams with tears still in my eyes. Philip then put me behind him. 

"Elizabeth Lockhart? I had forgotten about you." Admiral Williams said to me. "I'm sorry but you're father was a thief and I had no choice." He looked at me, but I turned away. He didn't even care that he killed my father.

 He picked up the map and looked at it. He then pricked his finger, put three drops of his blood on the map. "What is this? Why is it not working!" Admiral Williams looked confused and frustrated at the same time.

"Why can't I see anything!" He couldn't see the map Philip and me both looked at each other then back at Admiral Williams. Why couldn't he read the map? He killed father who's blood was on the map last. What was going on? 

"I killed that thief for nothing what a waste of time and energy." Everyone on the ship was silent.

 "In order for me to see what's on the map, the last person who's blood was on has to be dead, so why isn't working, oh I see now." He smirked as he turned, and looked at me, I was terrified why was he looking at me?

"No, you are not to take another step." Philip yelled at Admiral Williams. "Do not touch her." Philip grabbed out his sword, and made sure I was behind him and protected me. 

"What's going on Philip?" I whispered to him. "He's going to try to kill you." Philip whispered back to me. 

"As long as someone with the same blood is alive the map cannot be seen by anyone, but that person, love." Admiral Williams said to me with an evil smile on his face.

 "That means I must kill you too." Kill me! What! No way I am not dying today. If anyone has is to die it would be him he's an evil man. 

"Your a rotten man with a rotten heart." I said to Admiral Williams with no hesitation and no fear.

 "Bring her to me, now!" Philip put his guard up. "Stay behind me at all times." Philip said to me I nodded letting him know that I wasn't going anywhere.

The soldiers grabbed their swords and started to wave their swords at Philip. The men and Philip waved their swords left and right fighting. I was scared that one of of them would stab him. 

They kept at for a while when Philip could no longer hold them off. "Run and find a longboat and get out of here." Philip said to me. "W-what about you they will kill you!" I didn't want to loose another person today. 

"Don't worry about me and go." I did as he said and ran I looked over the side of the ship and saw the longboats. I need to cut ropes so that I could get out. The soldiers were coming after me and I had no other choice then to run. 

I had no where to go I was almost at the edge the ship. I saw Philip two soldiers knocked his sword down and he surrendered they then grabbed him.

I turned my head left and right, but there was no way out. This was my fate I was going to die. The two soldiers that were running after me grabbed me and I tried to escape, but I couldn't.

 "Let me go please let me go." I screamed I was not going down without a fight. They brought me in front of Admiral Williams.

 "Why are you doing this?" I asked Admiral Williams. "Why? Because I want and everlasting life sweetheart that's why." He truly was evil he was doing this all for immortality? How disgusting! Admiral Williams grabbed his sword out and that's when I knew I was going to die today.

Then we heard a loud 'BOOM, BOOM' there were cannons going off I've heard enough cannons before to know the sound. I saw the ship we were on was still fine. 

Where is that noise coming from then I thought. Then we heard screaming from the ship next to us. It was the ship Admiral Williams had came on it was begin attacked. 

Someone was blowing up his ship. "No, the ship!" Admiral Williams screamed he was angry. That's when we saw it a black ship, with pure black sails, and on it a skull and crossbones that's when I knew for sure it was Pirates.
