[Modern AU.]

"What are you doing later?" You ask, walking to your house while you were holding your phone up to your ear, currently in a call with your lover. You gripped the scarf that was on your neck as it was rather cold and windy today. Well, it was snowing so, it made sense why it was cold. 

"Nothing. I'll just study for college." Diluc replies. You then hear the sound of shuffling papers, as if pages were being turned. So, he might've just started with studying.

"You're still going to stay there? Why can't you just come here and live with me?" You ask, a little annoyed with that. You then see the pedestrian signal light in red so, you stop and wait as cars drive on by. 

"As much as I would love to, I can't. And I'll just be a weight on your shoulders. I much rather be with myself rather than with someone else." Diluc answers, his tone sounding a bit focused. Well, he was studying so, that might be the reason why. 

"Are you... bored with me?" You ask, a little on impulse as you both haven't seen each other in a long time. You just felt a little sad as it sort of felt like his love for you was decreasing.

"It's not that! It's like... you're stuck to me like glue and I can't really... calm down." He yells out in disagreement, making you put your phone away from your ear because of it being a little too loud. Hearing him slowly quiet down, you then place it back closer.

"Ah, I see. Do you want to have some space for a while?" You ask, a little sad about the suggestion but, it seems like that was what he wanted and you could provide for him. Well, it's just going to be weeks and weeks of being lonely... definitely impossible.

"...Sure. But, if you want anything, need anything, just call me." He says, a little hesitant but then you hear him sigh. His sigh was as if he couldn't do anything about it anymore. You gripped your phone in regret as the pedestrian signal turned green.

"Of course." You say, sighing afterwards as you start walking after ending the call.

The two of you have been dating for about 2 years now. Nothing much has changed from before. Both of you still loved each other deeply. So, a little space here and there was to be expected but whenever you meet up again, Diluc was surprisingly looking so excited to see you as he hugs you every time.
