I didn't know when I reached in the car but Roman and I were speeding down the boulevard, hair whipping around me. I didn't know how long we were even driving for. The view in front of me and in my peripheral vision blurred as the car sped forward. Eventually, I let my gaze travel to the window beside me and saw that we were driving along a beach.
"Let me out!" I shouted. The car swerved onto the sandy boardwalk, coming to a screeching halt. I hopped out of the sports car hightailing it out as if my ass was on fire. I guess I wasn't moving fast enough because I felt his firm hand enclose my forearm pulling me into a hard chest. The wind left my lungs in a huff. When I looked up into his eyes he was furious, and he hadn't spoken a word yet. My brows creased on their own accord.
"Let me go, Roman! I don't want to talk to you right now," I spat with venom, trying and failing to wiggle free from his firm grip around my waist.
The heat between us was going to my head. I knew I needed to get away fast before I succumbed to whatever bullshit he had to convince me with tonight, that whatever he and Mahieu had had truly ended. I needed air to think clearly and being around Roman was not helping my mind to make appropriate decisions. I was not going to be sucked back into the crap that I went through with Wong, with Roman. Although, I doubt if he would ever do what Wong did to me. I had to remind myself that there was an if in that statement.
Letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding I realised that he was already influencing my thoughts.
"I'm never letting you go," he emphasized through gritted teeth, holding my gaze.
He was serious. I could see it in the storm of his eyes. He was also winning. I was melting the longer he held me. His intoxicating scent bore into my senses with every breath I took. I was fucking hooked and I hated and loved it all at the same time. Meanwhile, Roman maneuvered us to his side of the car so that he could get out an opened bottle of red wine. I remember him taking it from one of the waiters on our way out. He placed it on top of the car between its butterfly doors. If he thought he was going to get me drunk to forgive him, he had another thing coming. As he was about to bend to get something else I felt his hand loosened and made a run for it. It was ridiculous to think I could run in this dress, much less outrun him. He caught me with little effort, picked me up over his broad shoulder, and placed me on the bonnet of his Ferrari.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" he growled menacingly.
Chest heaving, I managed to get my anger out, "Away from you."
He climbed on top of the car in one swift movement. His grip on my arms was tight. When he was satisfied with his position, he held both my arms and pulled me up to sit between his legs. He then propped himself onto his elbows, taking me down with him and turning me to look him deep into his eyes. If my legs weren't bound by the skirt of my dress, I would have kneed him in the balls. It was a risk I was willing to take, regardless of his punishments.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" He repeated. It was a challenge.
"Why the hell is she here?" I took that challenge.
His eyebrows knitted together until he finally answered, "I don't know."
"Bullshit, Roman. Why is she here? She would never leave her child like that if she was such a good mother for her fuck buddy."
He held our gaze, never flinching from my harsh tone. "Everyone has their weakness, Sage. It is what makes us hum-," I cut him off before he could finish.
"You're telling me her weakness is your dick," I said.
His eyes were leveled with mine and I saw how my rudeness triggered something in him, finally. He was awfully quiet just staring at me, until he moved. Purposefully slow, his face dipped and I panicked for a bit. I felt the tip of his nose brush against my neck. My breath caught as I felt the heat of his face near my skin tantalizing it. When he looked up again his eyes were closed as he exhaled the breath he took from my neck to my temple.
