Part 16 || Dongmin

Y/N's POV

Soobin: "Dongmin?" I heard my brother call out which made me turn my head

Dongmin: "h-hi hyung is y-y/n here?" I sighed and rubbed my forehead. I took a deep breathe and placed a smile on my face walking out of the kitchen

Y/N: "hey Dongmin"

Dongmin: "y/n!" He hugged me tight and handed me a bouquet of flowers. Roses? I'm not being picky or anything but I do like tulips better... but these are fine. It's the thought that counts right?

Soobin: "you guys catch up I'll be here" he walked upstairs ignoring Dongmin

Y/N: "sorry about him again"

Dongmin: "don't worry about it" he hugged me again and I wrapped my arms around him too. I rested my chin on his shoulder and smiled. I miss this... we pulled apart and sighed "c'mon let's go out, we need to catch up on a lot of stuff" I placed the roses in a vase with water and grabbed my phone heading out

Y/N: "where are we going?" I questioned closing the front door

Dongmin: "it'll be a surprise" he chuckled and I did as well. We talked the whole way and he told me about how it was like with me gone. I also told him stories about college and stuff "oh how's that annoying guy? The one who disturbed our call that one time" I was thinking of who he was talking about and I just realized it was Jake

Y/N: "oh! You mean Jake... *chuckle* he's fine we're alright now"

Dongmin: "really whats he like?"

Dongmin's POV

Y/N: "he's really sweet once you get to know him and he's really chill so it's easy to trust him. I guess that's important since you know I have trust issues" I chuckled remembering

The first time I laid my eyes on y/n, I found her the most beautiful girl in the world. We met by being introduced by common friends. We hung out a lot but she never really opened up. She didn't like saying things about herself, it's more of general stuff. Like when I asked her what she wanted to major in college she'd say "oh just something that interests me" or something in that context.

Ever since the first time I met her till now she's been very vague about herself. Not the expressive type

Dongmin: "so I'm guessing Jake's your closest friend there?"

Y/N: "yeah he is" she smiled looking down. She never smiled like that before. I got a ding on my phone and I went to check it

I smirked and responded quickly keeping my phone. I'll finally know if I'm wasting my time on you or not...

Y/N's POV

Y/N: "who's that?"he faced me right away

Dongmin: "oh just my mom, wondering where I was" he chuckled-scoffed and kept his phone. My facial expression dropped down in curiousness but I decided not to question it. Although there is still a bit of worry

Y/N: "are we almost there?"

Dongmin: "just a few more minutes" I nodded. We talked a lot more until he suddenly stopped walking "here" I look at our surroundings and my chest started pounding. The place where he said he loved me...

<flashback>

We were sitting under the stars looking at the sky. We were holding hands while star gazing. He faced me and I faced him

Dongmin: "y/n... I- I love you" I widened my eyes

Y/N: "Dongmin, we've been together for 6 months are you sure?" He held my hand tighter

Dongmin: "I'm sure, I love you" I smiled... I felt like I had to say it back but if I did, it'd feel wrong

Y/N: "I'm sorry, I don't think I can say it back yet" he sighed

Dongmin: "it's fine, I understand" he sat up and so did I. "How about we carve our initials here for fun?" I agreed with the idea and he brought out his pocket knife and started carving on the tree. He handed it to me and I carve my initials below the +. I handed the knife back to him and he carved a giant heart around it

I didn't know what I felt. I felt happy and my feelings for him started coming back but at the same time it didn't feel right. I started walking to the tree where we carved out initials. I heard him walk quietly behind me just watching my movement. I kneeled down and brushed my fingers against the tree where the carvings were. He bent down beside me and chuckled

Dongmin: "you still remember"

Y/N: "of course I do"

Dongmin: "so do you have an answer?" I turn to him with a questioned hum. He gave me the look and I realized what it meant

Y/N: "Dongmin, I'm really sorry... I'm not ready to say it yet" he sighed

Dongmin: "it's ok" he sighed frustrated and we sat down on our usual spot and we leaned on each other's shoulders

My mouth went to a thin line with the feelings I feel right now. I was happy I got to see Dongmin, I really did miss him but I just feel so distant from him. Like I don't feel a connection with him as much anymore. The sun hit my face and I squinted my eyes. A smile came up on my face thinking about how Jake and I met at that spot with the view of the ocean. That's when I realized, I smile automatically every time I hear Jake's name, I see him, I hear about him and stuff... just him.

Dongmin: "come on let's take a picture" we took a selfie of both of us and I posted it to my story with the caption "with this awesome guy" and I also tagged him in the photo. "Something wrong? You seem distracted"

Y/N: "oh sorry... been a lot on my plate lately"

Dongmin: "well this is exactly what you need" he slung his arm over my shoulder and gave me a tight side hug

Y/N: " *chuckle* thanks Minmin" actually I barely had anything on my plate, I was just confused on how/what I felt

Jake's POV

As John and I were playing video games he paused the game and slapped my arm

Jake: "what the heck?"

John: "O. M. G! Girl check this out" I rolled my eyes, I don't even know why he keeps saying 'girl' with a slightly rolled r. He handed me his phone and I looked at him weirdly. My gaze transferred to the photo and my breathing stopped "is that her boyfriend?" He questioned and I gripped his phone and scoffed

Jake: "I guess, whatever" I threw him back his phone and picked up my controller and continued playing

John: "ooo what do we see here? Is someone being jealous?" He giggled hitting me with his shoulder. I didn't answer and continued playing

John's POV

He didn't answer me and I curled my lip up in annoyance. I made a *tsk* sound and looked him up and down sassily. He's obviously jealous... I looked at the picture again and analyzed it more. She doesn't look happy. And the guy looks... I don't know I'm just getting a negative vibe from him. But what do I know I've never met him

Jake: "yeah I'm jealous"
