Napapabuntong-hininga na initsa ko sa lamesa ang kaninang binabasa ko na script. It's piling up with the others that I finished reading. Ginagawa ko na 'to pagkagising ko pa lang pero hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ako natatapos.
Well... I can't blame everything on the fact that I played a couple of games after lunch. Pero talaga naman kasing ang daming scripts na iniwan ni Sebastian.
"Are you going to accept all of that?"
Nilingon ko si Pierce na kapapasok lang ng bahay. May inaayos kasi siya kanina sa tool house niya at dahil madami din akong kailangan gawin ay binigyan ko muna siya ng ilang oras na pahinga mula sa pangungulit ko.
Umabot ako ng isa pang script at binuksan ko iyon. I looked at the other pile and I shook my head at him. "Nope. That's the rejected pile."
"Hindi maganda?"
"More on hindi ko gusto."
I tried not to raise an eyebrow when he grabbed one of the script from the rejected pile. Technically, he's not allowed to read them. Wala nga lang akong balak na sawayin siya. It's not like he'll disclose it to anyone.
"The character's description is perfect for you," he said after awhile. "Para ngang ginawa para sa'yo."
"Exactly. That's why I don't like it."
Kumunot ang noo niya sa sinabi ko pero nginitian ko lang siya. I scanned the summary of the script I'm holding. Hindi na ako nag-abalang simulan pang basahin ng buo iyon at basta ko na lang nilagay sa pile.
"Are you going to find any project at this rate?" Pierce asked.
"Kung wala okay lang naman. I rather not have a project than to be tied forever to a film that I don't like or believed in." Kumuha pa ako ng isang folder at binuksan ko ulit iyon. "They usually give us a lot of pitches like this. Lalo na kapag natapos ang isang project ko at naging successful iyon."
"They're pretty well written."
"They are but they're also repetitive. Sa last project ko, my character was in a love triangle. I was also a stepmother. Two of the pitches on that pile have the same vibe. Ang iba naman ay parang repleksyon ng ilan pang mga naging project ko. Some are also written as if they already thought that I will be playing it so they base the characteristics and description with me in mind."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"For me yes. I love being an actress because I get to live a lot of lives through different project roles. Hindi iyon mangyayari kung stuck ako sa iisang story line. Lalo pa at child actress ako. It took my management a lot of years before the public accepted that I'm not going to play a teenage character forever. Hell, I received a lot of negative comments noong nagkaroon ako ng first screen kiss. Ano pa kaya iyong unang movie ko na may bed scene? I don't want to be stuck playing the same role over and over again. If I want to do that then I'll just live mine and stop being an actress. Staying in one zone because it's comfortable and the success is guaranteed is unimaginative and boring."
