Seize the day ch.40

I was cleaning up the kitchen while Ellie was playing in her play corner with her toys

"Daddy can we do something ?" Ellie asked me coming to the counter placing her head on the counter

"Sure what do you wanna do bug?" I asked her as a wiped the counters

"Can we go to the park ?" She asked

"Sorry bug I think it's a little to late to go to the park but me and papa will take you in our next day off together sound good?" I asked her whole point as the dark gaze out the window

"Yeah! When your done can we color ?" She asked

"Sure bug ." I said spraying some more cleaner on the counters as she went back to playing

I put the leftover Mac and cheese from dinner in the fridge

"Bug I'm done bring you coloring stuff to the table please ." I said

I got no response from her I didn't think much of it think she was already getting the supplies

"Bug ?" I said turning around seeing her in the floor bouncing in her back she was having a seizure

I ran to her side putting a pillow under her head as the rest of her body shook I turned her to her side

I waited 2-3 minutes until the seizure fully stopped and she fluttered open her eyes

"Dad-dy." She said crying as I took her into my arms

"Shh it's okay I'm here it's okay ." I said gently rubbing her back as she cried in my chest

A few hours later

I sat with Ellie on my lap for a few hours she was tired and she wanted to go to sleep but she couldn't for a few hours to avoid the risk of another one happening

"Daddy can I go to bed now ?" Ellie asked looking up at me

"Yeah bug .." I said carrying her to bed as I put her down and she looked at me

"Bug if you feel sick anytime tonight come and get me I'll be in the living room okay ?" I said looking at her

"Okay daddy." She said

"I love you more than anything bug ." I said kissing her head

"I love you daddy." She said as I walked out of the room heading for the living room

I cleaned up her toys that were left on the carpet and put them away in her toy bin as Carlos came through the door over to me

"I got your voicemail is she okay ?" He asked looking concerned

"She's okay she just went to sleep 10 minutes ago I'm sure she wants to have you say goodnight ." I said

"Okay I'll be back in a little ." He said heeding upstairs

I sat at the kitchen table looking through Ellie's file that we were given I skipped ahead to the medical section where it said clear as day that Ellie has epilepsy she was diagnosed at 3

Carlos came back down changed out of his uniform

Carlos POV

"I read her a story I think she finally calmed down.." I said coming down

"That's good .." Tk said looking at Ellie's papers

"T what's wrong ?" Carlos said coming over

"It's says clear as day right here that's she's had epilepsy since she was three I'm a paramedic I'm trained to always get background information about medical conditions -." He said starting to cry as he put his hands on his face

"I should've looked through this when they gave it maybe -." He said once again as I slid next to him taking him in my arms letting him put his head against my chest

"T tonight would have happen either way regardless of if you knew or not she lucky you were here ."

"She's okay t .. thanks to you ." I said kissing his head

Tk lifted his head from my chest

"It was just so sad seeing her like that .."

" I know it was because you care about her so much but we're gonna get her some medication and you'll never have to see her like that again okay ?"

"Yeah .." Tk said resting his head on my shoulder.as I laid my head on top on his head

"How was your day ?" Tk asked

"Better now that I'm here with you ." I said kissing his forehead

"Daddy?" Ellie called coming down the steps as Tk got up

"Yeah bug what's up ?" He said bending down to her

" I keep coughing and can't sleep ." She said as she wrapped her arms around Tk

" okay let's get you some water and some cough medicine and I'll stay with you until your asleep sound good ?" Tk asked picking her up

"Yeah." Ellie said letting out another cough

*a hour later*

I was laying in bed on my phone when Tk came in from Ellie's room

"She finally fell asleep ." Tk said getting in to bed with me

"That's good ." I said looking at him

" you know We're pretty good at theirs whole parenting thing ." I said looking at Tk

"Yeah we make a pretty good team ." Tk said as I put my arm around him as he snuggled into my chest
