I have to stay away from her. That's all I have to do not to complicate things.

And that's why the next day, during the music lesson, I sit as far away from her as possible.

I see her, she is sitting in the third row, Jade is next to her as always. Every now and then she turns to look for someone with her eyes, maybe she is looking for me, but she doesn't seem to find me even once; I sat in the back row, on the corner.

Even though today's lesson is quite interesting, I can't focus on anything other than what happened yesterday. I went to her to talk, I just asked her one question, from sharing a beer to kissing — devouring. Then came the rest. I remembered that she had a phenomenal body, but aesthetically she still looked like a teenage girl back then; now, after only two years she's become a woman. Fuck, if she is. On Friday, at the party, when I saw her arrive in those boots, which made her legs look greater than usual, and that tight dress... God, the first thing that crossed my mind was how fucking sexy she was. I struggled to maintain my self-control. For one half I made it, for the other I didn't. As she sat on me and I stroked her thigh... the only thing I wanted to do was take those clothes and rip them off, and then—

"Mr. Davis," Professor Turner tells me, "is there anything you need?" And I realize I was left alone in the courtroom.

"Um, no, thanks," I say, taking my things and starting to go.

"How did yesterday's rehearsals go?" he asks before I'm out.

"Badly," I answer sincerely.

"What's the problem?"

I sigh. "That I shouldn't have accepted. Goodbye." I leave the room before he can ask any further questions.

I go straight to my car, but before getting on I decide to light a cigarette; I don't do it often, only when I have too many thoughts on my mind. I need to get distracted for a moment before I go home.

I am calm, leaning on the driver's door. Until I see a scene that I didn't want to see.

Daniel is talking to Helen, he holds her by her wrist, she smiles and shakes her head politely trying to get away from him. But he doesn't let her go, he takes her by her hips. I can't hear what they say, but she keeps shaking her head and tries to wriggle out. He eventually lets her go but he kisses her on the cheek. And I really think I have a disgusted expression, I can't help it.

Helen walks over to her Nissan, which — I only realize now — is parked next to mine.

"Hey," she says when she reaches her car. "I haven't seen you at music."

I fake a laugh and ignore what she just said. "Really?"

"What?" she asks confused as she gets in the car.

"Did you really let that prick give you a kiss on the cheek?"

"Why do you care?" she tells me with a defiant smile.

"I'm just saying. I don't give a fuck, Helen." Instead I do, especially if it's him. Daniel... Christ, how is it going even possible?

She turns the key and turns on the radio, but she immediately turns down the volume. "You're avoiding me, why?"

"Isn't it better this way in your opinion?" I tell her and crush the cigarette butt with my shoe, then get in the car.

She thinks about an answer for a few seconds, but she can't find one apparently, because she starts the engine and starts pulling out of the parking lot.

"See you, Helen," I say goodbye to her pretending to lift my hat and smile at her, she rolls her eyes.

I wait for her to leave before leaving university and returning home.

When I cross the threshold of the door the first thing I notice is the smell of lunch. I'm starving.

I leave the books in the living room and immediately go and sit in my place at the counter. "Have you ever thought about opening a restaurant?" I jokingly say to Michael. He is the one who usually cooks for me and Evan and who thinks about the shopping, without him the fridge would be constantly empty.

"Mhm, I could think about it," he chuckles. He puts my plate in front of me and then sits down in front of me. "How's the situation with Jade and Helen? You know I didn't want to send that video..."

"Yeah I know. Jade doesn't seem to care, in fact I really think that she is getting along well with Evan, he hardly around these days." I don't say anything about Helen.

"And with Helen?" Fuck.

"It's complicated. That girl likes to mess up my head, I don't fucking understand."

"What do you mean? Is she mad at you?"

I chuckle. "If she's mad at me? Of course she is."

"What have you done?"

"Difficult to explain. You don't know her, Mike," I snort and get up to put the dirty plate in the sink.

As I go upstairs, my cell phone vibrates in my pocket. I take it and check who it is.

And here she is.

Helen: Even if you like to avoid me, you can't.

What the...? What the fuck does that mean?

Me: I don't like avoiding you. What's up?

Her: We have to rehearsal together. Come over. Jade will be staying with Evan at your place for tonight.

Me: So you want us to be alone, huh?

I'm curious what she's going to answer.

Her: That's not what I was insinuating, clean your dirty mind, sweetheart.

Me: I will. I'll be with you soon, baby.

I'm just teasing her, I'm not going to get her attention. I know I already have part of it, but it'd be easier if I didn't.
