Maddie is his sister. And I worried so much about it.

His sister.

Insane, I'm speechless. He made me make a scene for no reason! I would have preferred her to be some old conquest of his, at least I would've had a reason to be jealous.

Forget it.

But I'm still angry about the things he said to me in the car. He was so mean... he broke my heart. I don't know if he really meant them, but they hurt me.

Suddenly I feel a hand on my shoulder. Stephanie. "Hey, you look sad, is something wrong?" she asks me, a sympathetic look on her face.

I need to let off steam, but I don't even know who this lady is. But she has no idea who I am. Fuck it.

"I'm... my..." As I try to answer her, tears threaten to come out. I know what I want to say, but I'm afraid to say it, because I also know what it means.

Stephanie hugs me, and suddenly I miss my mom. She would understand.

"My heart is broken," I manage to finally say. Yes, that's it, I can no longer deny it.

Stephanie looks me in the eye. "You're in love then."

I sigh. "Probably," I say, and it makes me smile at the thought. I fell in love with just who I had to hate.

"Harry?" she asks me.

I nod, sniffling.

"What happened?"

I run my hands over my eyes to dry my tears. "A lot of things have happened, I don't even know what it was. But the fact is that I love him, but I don't know if he loves me back." Admitting it out loud is worse than anything.

"Honey, I've known Harry forever. His mom and I know how many girls knelt to him, but he never brought one home," she explains to me. "You must be special to him. By force. I'm sure he loves you too. "

I hiccup and shake my head. "I do not believe so. Today he told me some terrible things. He freaked out and...he broke my heart. "

She sighs and wipes a tear from my cheek. "Sometimes men have thoughts on their minds, it's not even our fault if they start freaking out. It's their own head that drives them crazy. "

A sudden desperate cry rouses us from this moment of confidence. Ethan, Maddie's baby.

Stephanie gets up to go get him, but I stop her. I want to hold him and see if I can calm him down.

I pull him out of the pram he slept in, his face red with tears.

"Hey, Ethan, hi," I tell him, and a sincere smile appears on my face as I rock him in my arms. I take the dummy and put it in his mouth; he calms down within a minute.

"Good, like that." I love children, becoming a mother is something I really want.

The kitchen doors open and Kate Davis, Harry and his sister Madison come out.

Harry approaches me and Ethan. "It's the first time I've seen him," he tells me in a whisper.

I look up at him, and I see a big smile on his lips. "Do you want to hold him?"

He runs a hand through his hair. "I don't know, I don't know how..."

Maddie giggles behind him as I put him in his arms.

"Hold his head," I explain.

The baby does not cry when he finds himself in an other pair of arms. He looks at Harry with wide eyes, examines his face, as if he's an alien, but he doesn't cry.
