The next morning, James and I walked downstairs hand in hand to Sam in the kitchen on his laptop.

"Look at you two, all cute and shit." Sam smiled at us as we sat with him. "I've been researching siphons," I rolled my eyes as he talked, "if they've never been taught by a parent, they sometimes need a kick start to unleash their power."

"What do you mean?" James asked, pouring some coffee.

"Like a connection with someone." He closed the laptop and looked between both of us.

"You do realise how ridiculous you sound, right?" I took a mug off James and held it tight in both hands, breathing in the caffeine.

"Hey I'm not the siphon." Sam held his hands up in defence with a little smirk on his face.

"I'm not! There's no such thing as witches." I sighed and took a sip of coffee; that first sip always made the day feel like worth getting out of bed for. But then I looked over to James and wished we could stay in bed forever.

"What about Wanda?" James interrupted, placing his arm over the back of my chair.

I pouted and leaned my head back onto his arm, "Damn. Forgot about her."

"So, now what?" James asked. Sam smirked and looked between the two of us....

James and I were sat on the couch next to each other while Sam carried on explaining what we needed to do....

James sighed, "This is ridiculous."

"You're telling me." I mumbled, lying down and completely giving up on this idiotic idea that I am a super soldier. Let alone a witch too!

"You guys have a connection. Whether it's emotionally, physically... Just embrace it." Sam winked

"How are we meant to do that? We've connected a few times and nothings happened." James asked, air quoting for affect.

"I like how romantic you can be." I rolled my eyes and sat up next to James. He leaned over and kissed my cheek.

"I don't know." Sam sighed and leaned forward, leaning hai elbows on his knees. "Hold hands? Think about being together. Think about taking an ability, Mallory."

"Taking an ability?" James questioned with a raised eyebrow

"It's temporary. It depends on how much she siphons how long it lasts. Could be a few minutes or few hours." Sam explained, "She can't take it away completely; her body can only absorb so much."

"What can I siphon? Apparently I'm a super soldier too, even though I have no abilities." I smiled but was annoyed with the whole thing. I have zero strength, how can I be a super soldier? Ridiculous.

"I'm guessing it's connected to the witches abilities. Once you unlock the siphon, then I think you'll unlock the super soldier." Sam was brilliant. He was always trying to see the positive, the best, in every situation. But sometimes he really annoyed me with his positivity....

"Makes sense" James shrugged.

I gave him a death glare, "none of this makes sense."

"Doll, I'm 106 years old after having my mind erased so many times I lost count. My skinny best friend was given a serum that made him gain height and muscle in seconds. He then went into ice and came out 70 years later, who then time travelled to marry his sweetheart from the 40s, have kids and then grandkids. AKA you. Life doesn't makes sense any more." James smiled. I looked over to Sam who shrugged in agreement with him.

I sighed, "whatever. But what am I meant to take?"

"Why not try his arm? The kinetic energy from it?" Sam suggested.

I sighed, sat crossed legs on the couch facing James and held onto his hands. With his touch, I remembered his hands all over my body and I slightly squirmed in my seat. James noticed and smirked, looking down into my lap and biting his lip.

I pushed it to the back of my mind and concentrated on the vibranium metal, the Wakanda technology holding the kinetic energy within.

I closed my eyes and felt the cold metal against my bare skin. My hand started to tingle, I wanted to let go but my body wouldn't let me.

What felt like an electric shock bolted through my palm and up my arm to my chest. I gripped hold of James tighter as the pain carried on. I could feel his grip loosening around my hand as I held on tighter and tighter to the metal one; my body not allowing me to let go.

What felt like hours, more likely seconds, I finally let go and the pain subsided.

"Lori? Lori!?" James voice echoed in my head as I tried to open my eyes.

"James.... I'm gonna...." was all I managed to get out before my body felt like jelly.

I felt myself falling but could do nothing about it. Hands grabbed me before it all went black...
