"You know what is another reason why I love this place." I say. He are sitting side-by-side on the bike, looking out the distance.
"What?"
"There is no cell reception."
"No shit."
"Yes shit. See?" I show him my phone.
"Wow, if someone came out to kill us we are shit out of luck without being able to call for help."
"Don't worry, I know self defense."
"No way in hell." He teases.
"You should know by now that every time you say that on me it will come out as true."
"Yeah, I guess I'm not that good at learning shit."
I chuckle. "You sure learned how to kiss damn well."
He grins knowingly. "I surely did."
"Remind me again why you decided to study psychology."
After sighing he answers. "I wanted to learn how people think, why they act the way the do after certain situations. I wanted to know why do what they do, what goes through their minds. I guess that just means I'm a meddler of sorts."
"I think I get you somehow."
He looks at me square in the eye. "Somehow, you always do."
He retrieves his phone from his back pocket as he slides of the bike. "What are you doing?" I question as I see him turning the key on the ignition only so the bike headlight would go on. His phone starts playing a soft song I know by heart. It is Ingrid Michealson's version of Can't Help Falling in Love. He asks for me to take his hand and I do so. He guides me in front of the headlight, so it's hitting us like a perfect spotlight. It's truly amazing how he go from horny to witty to outright romantic in a blink of an eye. He sway to the soft melody as he whispers in my ear. "The world is strange."
"It is indeed." I say from his chest.
"How could from the millions of people around you, you got a fucked-up neighbor like me?"
"Maybe because you needed me as much as I needed you and the universe decide to put us in each other way." I whisper.
"You think so."
"Yeah, I do."
His lips come back to mine but are gone way too soon.
"It's getting late be says." When the song finishes.
"We should go."
Grabbing the helmets and straddling the bike, we leave this time in silence. It's as if we are mourning leaving this place but I know this has changed us for good. That inside, both of us are happy in one way or another. Going down the eight stories is just as fun as going up so we still laugh every now and then.
We get to the apartment complex, We enter leave the garage together, enter the main building together and walk up the stairs together. Well, he is behind me.
"I can bet you chose to be a gentleman and let me walk up the stairs in front just to check out my ass."
"Witch!" He says just like I had hours before.
I start singing the worst rendition of Frank Sinatra's witchcraft as we go up the second flight of stairs.
When we reach my door, I lean against it to look up to him. He's so handsome it's unbelievable. "You've got shit on you face."
