Mia's (POV)

I was surrounded by darkness, every where that I turned I saw nothing but darkness. Am I dead? I thought. This is where people go when we die?

'No child you are not dead' a soft voice spoke before a blinding light broke through the dark. I closed my eyes against it before a soft hand cupped my cheek I opened them. I was in a field full of flowers and a woman stood before me, she had a flowing white gown on and black hair piled high on her head.

Her eyes changed color, silver, brown, black, green it was like they were made up of all eye colors. She stood taller than me and she was gorgeous, slim with a slight flare to her hips.

'Who are you? Where am i?' I asked softly.

'I'm your ancestor, one of the very first grey's, my name is Gabriella and you are in my paradise.' She said softly pulling her hand away to gesture towards the scenery behind her.

'I brought you here to talk with you, you have endured a lot my little one and I am sorry you were not protected like you should have been.' Her eyes held sorrow and I just shrugged.

'It's okay, life is life, you deal and move on.' I said looking away from her, I could never stand people looking at me with pity. They pretended to be concerned but in reality they were just glad that it wasn't them.

Honestly you couldn't blame them for not wanting my life or anyone else's who was like mine was. But they still didn't need to pretend that they cared.

'I'm going to show you something' she said as she moved in front of me and placed her hands on either side of my head.

Images flashed trough my mind, a cute couple about my age were holding a cute chubby baby girl, they were in a nursery with the name Sierra on the wall. The image wavered and changed to the same couple only a couple years older holding a baby girl with the same features as the little girl before only the name on the wall changed to Isobel.

A little girl with brown eyes and brown hair came walking in on clumsy feet and the father kneeled down to pick her up, giggling she put her hand on the baby's cheek as the mother held the baby up for her to see.

The little girl smiled and said 'sissy' the image clouded over and another took its place.

The couple were running into the baby's room with the two year old in their arms, they were frightened by the yelling and screams coming from the yard. The dad wanted to stay and fight but the mom said 'no we must protect them at all costs' with that they ran for the woods.

Wolves were fighting all over the place, couples trying to protect their families were being slaughtered left and right. Flames were being thrown around and wolves yelled in terror. More wolves poured out of the woods attacking those who chose to stand and fight.

Some teleported around killing the wolves they caught off guard. Some were freezing those that they touched, others would instantly die at the touch of a grey. Some would be electrocuted, while others when they were touched would be drowned from the inside out.

They were winning because of the powers they wielded until one turned on them all. She looked familiar but I couldn't place her, as she froze the grey's that remained. She held her palms out and they froze mid stride, the attacking wolves launched at them and ripped them to shreds.

They had been taken by surprise, one of their own turned on them causing them to be slaughtered. They would have won but instead they lost and my world had been torn apart.

I didn't want to see anymore but the images kept coming. I saw a young version of my father standing in the middle of the massacre and I was stunned, that bastard ruined my home and he ruined me. The girl who had turned walked up to him and they shared a passionate kiss. She couldn't have been more than 24 easily corrupted by the thoughts of my father.

The image changed to a group of people surrounding a woman who was telling them the choices they had to make in order to survive.

'You must chose to leave those you love behind and go into hiding, I will hide their wolves unless they are attacked they will never know what they are and neither will anyone else.'

'I won't do this they are my family and I will protect them' an angry father said as he pushed his wife and children away.

'Then you will all perish' the woman said shaking her head in sympathy.

The parents of the two little girls were torn between wanting to protect them and wanting them to stay together. The older woman turned to the parents.

'These two must be protected at all costs, you know this. It was fore told that they will be the only ones who can stop the slaughter of thousands.' The woman's face had grown wary as the parents had yet to voice the choice they would make.

'This one must survive and live a harsh life, it will teach her to be cautious but to love like no one else. She will be needed to ensure that all wolves will be able to live.'

The parents looked from the little bundle in their hands to the woman and made the hardest choice they would ever have to make, they let their little girls go.

Gabriella pulled her hands away as the images faded and I didn't realize I had tears running down my face. I didn't want to see that, those people were protecting themselves and they were slaughtered.

'Why? Why did you show me that?' I whispered, I could feel their pain like it was my own.

'Because my dear that was your past, that's how you became what you are now.' She said in a soft voice.

'Am I dead?'

'No, you are healing very nicely,' she said looking out into the field.

'Then why am I here?' I demanded.

'Because I'm going to help you, your body took a lot of damage, and the destruction that you caused, it over used your gift causing you to almost lose it.' She watched me with neutral eyes, the tone of her voice accusing.

'You need more control of your gift and I'm going to pass one on to you, that you need to control as well. I showed you your past because when you wake up it will make things easier to accept.'

'Your parents still long to be with their daughters and you shouldn't judge them because of the choice they had to make. The people who didn't make the choice are dead because they didn't go into hiding like they should have.'

'The time to uncover the grey's has come, in order to face what is coming your way you need to find your family and have them stand at your side. The person you seek is someone you won't expect and it will hurt when you uncover the truth.'

'You will need them before this is over, the man who raised you isn't your father, you were the little girl named Isobel in those visions, you are the daughter of an alpha and you need to accept your fate in order to save the lives of your mate and your pack.'

I stare at her in shock, that little girl was me? They gave me up? My mind couldn't accept what was going on, but in some weird way I understood what they did, they didn't want me to die.

Gabriella took her hand and laid it over my heart and pain shot through my whole body, I tried pulling away but she grabbed my shoulder and prevented me from moving. She began whispering words in a language that I couldn't understand.

'Go little one, become who you were born to be.' As she said these words to me, my world became dark and I accepted the darkness that provided a sanctuary from the pain she was causing.
