Waiting Forever

Chapter 28

Mia's (POV)

I was told from Zeke that it was a days walk from where they had me held captive and from the stream it was about 12 hours. I didn't know he had carried me that far until he had said so.

We met up with his group and they were a friendly bunch of guys, most were around my age while a couple others were younger probably in their teens.

Zeke had said that some were run from their pack because the packs had no use for them and others were like him, they were born into this.

I tried linking with Logan but I was shut off from him for some reason. We had walked a couple of hours when the guys shifted shape with a growl. Three stood in front of me while the other spread out and disappeared into the trees and brush.

I sniffed the air and smiled when I caught Sam and Sierra's scent, I took off running to them to make sure that they didn't start fighting the guys who saved me.

I came to a stop as I saw my parents, Sam and Sierra with another wolf I didn't recognize. They shifted shape as they saw me and I ran to them, hugging them.

The rouges stood at my back in a protective gesture. I watched as Sam stiffened and looked over my shoulder at Zeke.

'Don't, he saved me, they all did.' I said with a wave of my hand. The unknown wolf shifted into a beautiful woman. I heard a gasp and turned to look at Zeke who was staring at the girl with fascination and love.

I smiled at him and turned back to her, she was slender and barely reached my shoulders, her features were delicate. Small button nose, full lips, big green eyes and red flaming hair that went down her waist.

She looked at Zeke sheepishly and blushed. Aww that's so cute I thought to myself. I watched as he walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her before nuzzling her neck.

I shook my head at them before turning to my parents, Sam and Sierra.

'What are you guys doing here?' I asked them.

'Coming after you, where is Logan?' Sam asked.

'What do you mean? I haven't seen him.' I started to panic, I figured he would be with them looking for me but if he wasn't with them, then where was he?

'We split up looking for you and he took off giving us directions on where to find you, he is faster than us and we were pretty far off. We had to book ass to get here in order to help him.' Sierra said looking around as the pack fighters joined us.

'We need to go back, Zeke rescued me a few hours ago, he might be there looking for me.' As I finished I shifted shape and took off for the cavern. I felt them running behind me and kicked up my speed.

It took a while for us to get back to the stream, we silently made our way towards the cavern and stopped when we heard voices.

'We don't even know if she will come for him. What if someone has her?' The unknown guy said.

'Oh, she will come mark my words and when she does we will be ready.' I recognized Stephan's voice.

'Logan?' I tried linking with him but I got nothing.

I nodded to the others and we made our way silently forward, I was still weak but they had my mate and I would die to protect him. I felt my wolf growl her approval. She had been strangely silent since Spencer drained us of our powers and I was glad she was willing to fight to protect Logan.

'He is our mate, we have the strength to fight with or without our powers.' She said to me.

'Thank you,' I whispered to her, I could hear the rogues be becoming restless and I knew they smelled us.

'Baby?' I heard Logan question.

'Oh thank god, are you okay? We are here, we are getting you out of there.' I linked to him.

'No, stay away, I can't risk you.' He said stubbornly.

I kept silent, I knew anything I said would fall on deaf ears and I wasn't in the mood for arguing. He wasn't risking me, I was doing this because I loved him.

'Watch out,' Sierra yelled as a wolf emerged from my left. I dodged his attack and went straight for him throat, clamping down hard as my teeth shredded his skin. He hung limply from my mouth as another wolf came at me from the side.

I flung the wolf that was in my mouth at the wolf attacking me and when he was distracted by dodging the flying wolf I jumped on his back and pushed him to the ground. Taking my paw I pushed on his neck until I heard a snap.

I looked up to see everyone fighting, I needed to get to Logan. I was about to turn around when someone jumped me from behind, I tried biting at them but they clung to my back in away from my reach. They bit down on my neck causing me to howl in pain.

'No!!!!' I heard Logan shout in my mind.

All of a sudden the ground started shaking and a fierce growl erupted from the trees. Everyone paused at the sound and started looking around to find the source.

I glanced up as Logan rushed from the trees at me, his eyes were different, they were flashing an odd silver/blue, as he attacked the wolf on me. They tore at each other, Logan getting the upper hand and then getting knocked to the side by the rogue.

Teeth flashed and tore through skin, neither wolf giving up as they both became covered in blood. The rogue was limping around, favoring one leg and Logan used that to his advantage. Dodging to the side he grabbed a hold of the wounded leg and tugged causing the wolf to howl in pain.

Letting go, Logan dodged to the other side and grabbed the rogue by the scruff of his neck and shook him from side to side until he went limp. He dropped him and then circled him before going in for the kill, taking his paw and swiping the rogue across his throat, nearly severing his head.

I turned away at the sight, I've killed before but that seemed so, gruesome. I opened my eyes when a wet nose brushed my face. I looked into his glowing silver/blue eyes and couldn't help but choke up at the love I saw in them.

I nuzzled his face and brushed myself against him, loving the familiar sparks that ran through my body as we touched.

'Let's go home baby,' he whispered to me through our link.

'I think that's the best thing that I have heard all day,' I whispered back to him.

He gave me a wolfish grin as we started the long trek home
