Waiting Forever

Chapter 3

Zoey (POV)

I watched alpha Logan and Mia under the trees, they chatted a little bit and i watched as she laid down on her back pack and promptly fell asleep. I wasn't so sure about alpha logan coming into her life and i wanted to make sure that Mia was ok. This was the first time i had seen her eyes light up and the first time she slept peacefully. She didn't think that we knew her sleeping patterns or see the haunted looks in her eyes but we did. Being werewolves we could hear her even though she was at the opposite side of the house, we could hear her distress, fear and loneliness.

On a good night she got about 5 hours of sleep on a bad night, she didn't sleep at all. i wanted to be able to help her and have her be happy. I didn't know anything about her past or what brought her here to this place but she was my sister even though we weren't blood, i didn't care she was my sister and i hated seeing her go through this. 6 years ago i happened to meet her and we had been inseperable since. When we first met i saw this beat down girl one with no hopes for the future and one who had just completely withdrawn into herself.

Slowly, She had come out of her cage. I was happy when she finally started taking defense courses because she started to live life a little more. I tried getting her to go out on dates but she would refuse and i knew it was because of her past. She refused to talk about it and as much as i wanted her to let all that hurt go, i wasn't the one that would get her to. I just hoped that alpha logan would do the right thing and get her to live the life Mia deserved. 

"Baby, come on you know the alpha won't hurt her." I felt Spencer, my mate standing five feet away. I loved him so much and he was privy to all my thoughts sometimes knowing me better than i knew myself.

"i don't want her hurt Spence."was all i said.

"Honey, they are mates. Look at them, when have we ever seen her like that? Yeah she jokes around but it never reaches her eyes. When we are together, her eyes get this lifeless look to them and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what is going through her mind. She needs Logan as much as he needs her." Spencer stated softly, i knew he was right but i was so afraid for her if she accepted this then she would get her wolf, and with Zeke back i knew more pain was going to come before Mia and Logan could have the life that they wanted.

"Okay, okay we will let alpha logan do this but let him know that if he so much as hurts one little hair on her head i will rip his throat out." I whispered it but made sure that the threat was very real.

I heard a deep chuckle inside my head " I will respect her and give her everything she needs in life Zoe, and if i do hurt her know that it isn't my intention." Alpha logan simply stated. Oh shit, i thought did i accidently mind link with him?

"No, very few things get past me Zoey, You maybe down wind from me but your are not very good at hiding, that tree your behind isn't big enough to hide that tiny little frame of yours. I mind linked with you and was privy to your thoughts and the conversation your currently having with your mate." What the fuck?

"Why the hell are you doing this alpha?" I whispered though my mind.

"Because i would like to know more about my mate, you are her sister and you know her better than anyone or so i thought. Apparently, my little mate has some issues?" he didn't say it in a mean way, more like sorrowful and my heart clentched at the sound that i heard so many times with Mia.

"She hasn't had an easy life, Logan, I can see it in her eyes and if you bring it up she will only shut down, if she is going to tell you, then she needs to do it on her own terms and trust you more than anyone. It will take time but if you guys are truly mates then she will begin to trust you and i expect you to never ruin that trust."
