Faithful Betrayal

I believe that real hard work pays off. Every student in the college ran towards the notice board to see their exams scores since our college still adopted that system. Some came out in tears. While others had smiles all over their faces.

Rosette was a good example for those that were all smiley. I knew she would make her papers without difficulties.

It was now my turn. My heart pounded furiously as I made way to notice board. I knew that my grades may drop down since I wasn't able to submit my biology project.

 "ciara! Wouldn't you check your score?" rosette said out to me.

"I'm scared rosette what if I didn't perform well. I don't know what I may be able to say to flora and morena." I purposely skipped dad's and aunt Ann's name.

"oh come off it ciara. I believe in you and your capacities. So stop the melodrama and go check your score. Be brave."

"no rosette. I can't do it." I replied so nervously.

"okay then I would." Rosette marched towards the notice board and checked my name. I was so scared. I knew these exams would determine my being able to graduate as a medical Student. It would also mean my fulfilling of mum's last wish.

"what did it say rosette?" I called up. Rosette expression changed to a very dark one. I knew that expression. It symbolizes fail. I failed? It can't be.

 
"I'm sorry ciara. But you got a very, very po..." she stressed it that I could read her lips. It meant poor. I failed. I really, really failed. "...high mark ciara! You got a high mark!" that can't be. Me?

"what do you mean by that rosette? I got a?"

"you got 90% ciara. You could go look if you think I'm pulling your legs."

I went to check myself and discovered so. I really did get 90%. I had straight A's. It was definitely a miracle. I checked for Darren. Since I had written his exams; it wasn't so heart furiously for me. He got 86.5%. That was still a good score. He had 6 A's and 3 B's.

But it was really confusing. I checked again and again and it was so. I checked biology. I was the best in biology. But I didn't do the project. Who would have done it?

Craig? I checked his score. He had a perfect straight A's. Second best in biology while Darren was third best. It was just so impossible to believe but i knew if anyone was to be behind this, it must definitely be Craig.

I ran quickly after Craig. I didn't know where he could be but I had to try my luck. I decided to try my luck by going to the park to search for him.

"you really do know a perfect spot to hide. Right?" I sat down beside him.  I had found him where he was staying all alone by himself. "here take this. It's for you."

"what for?"

"remember the day you first came to our school and wrote that biology test? You were so confident you would pass even though you knew you had little chances. You made a deal with me that if you pass the test we both will become close buddies. Wasn't that right?"

"we don't  have to..."

"why did you do that? Why did you do the entire project by yourself? Why Craig?"

"did you come here to ask why?"

"Craig..."

"no need ciara. You don't have to. I did that out of the love I felt for you. I knew how much you wanted to do the project but since you couldn't, I had to."
