EPISODE 3:Songs and Tales: part 2
-HUMAN REALM: THE GARDEN-
Kore is walking towards her cottage at night as she founds her mother standing by the door.
- "My darling." Demeter says while opening her arms.
- "Mother." Kore says in an unmotivated toned.
- "What's wrong my child? You're always so cheerful." Demeter says as they both walk inside the house.
Inside the cottage on her room, Kore sits on the vanity chair in front of the mirror. Demeter stands behind her, grabs a hair brush and starts to comb her hair.
- "Mother?" Kore says in a questioning tone.
- "Yes, daughter." Demeter says as she continues to comb her hair.
- "Are the high gods really that bad?" Kore says while her mother opens her eyes wide. "I know you don't like to talk about them, but you are one of the high gods, and you are not evil. It's hard to think of it. They provide joy and wellbeing to humans; and we (referring to her and her mother) provide vegetation and food amongst many things."
- "Such innocence." Demeter says. "They only give things to humans so humans can fear a life without those things... People in fear pray. So the prayers keep us here. Thriving... Most gods... up there...enjoy inflicting fear on humans on such cruel ways." Demeter says while putting the brush down.
- "So they do it on purpose..." Kore says with a low tone to her voice, almost disappointed.
- "My child" Demeter says while putting her face side by side Kore's and looking into the mirror. "Most of them don't care about the humans as long as they pray. It's a game... to relieve the boredom of immortality"
Demeter starts to walk around the room while Kore is still sitting on the vanity chair.
-"It's on their veins child. Father was despicable" She says while grabbing a glass of wine. "Poseidon! That's one greedy, vengeful being...The ruler of the oceans." She says in a mocking tone. "Hera... she's the most rude and two-faced goddess I've ever known child, and trust me...I've lived to see." She makes a toasting gesture with the glass. "That poor Hestia, bless her. She's the only one who makes sense in that place." She says while looking down. "Then you have that self centered Zeus... he acts like a prudent and wise being but I know deep down he is evil...Always laughing and acting like we owe him everything." She takes a sip of the glass.
-"Mother...what about Hades?" Kore asks curious.
-"Hades...That was an unfortunate event." She says saddened. "Hades is the eldest brother... The first son of Kronos and Rhea. He had bad luck when the three of them divided the realms after defeating father...You see, Zeus divided the realms in the order he saved us from our father's insides. He shouldn't have gotten to live exiled, if anything that bastard Poseidon, but Hades was saved last... hence he was left with the Underworld"
Demeter kisses Kore on her forehead and starts walking to the door. She opens the door and stays there with a thankful face.
- "After that he changed... I haven't seen him just a few times in the last millennia. Each time his face is darker... I've haven't seen him smile since he went to the Underworld and left Olympus... that was so long ago I don't remember how his smile looks..." She says while changing her sight to Kore. "Now rest child, I'll see you in a few weeks on Olympus. Bring a nymph with you. I will protect you always my darling girl."
Demeter smiles while closing the door and disappearing into the night. Kore is looking at her mother disappear through the window. She proceeds to walk back again towards her room and once there she opens the closet. There was a beautiful pastel pink dress made of flowers that the nymphs had made here.
- "Girl..." She says to herself. "You got this. You are the goddess of Spring."
