Kore followed Hades through the woods. She was scared and her chest tight. Still, she was intrigued by that mysterious figure. "If he was going to hurt me, he would have done it by now, and besides, I haven't done anything to him." She kept repeating to ease her mind. She was curious about what Hades was going to do or say. She had heard bad things about him, but it didn't "fit his face" she thought. They kept walking when she said.
- "If you're going to hurt me, I think this is far enough." She said bravely as she stopped walking.
Hades turned and gave her a confused look, like the accusations she had made surprised him. He turned and kept walking. She followed behind feeling awkward. She felt on his look, that what she implied was not who he was and the things she has heard about him could have been a bit exaggerated. "Too early to tell anyways." She thought. Suddenly a bright light started to hit her face. When she raised her sight she saw a big prairie amongst all the darkness and the trees. It was filled with pink colored flowers.
- "They match your dress." Hades said while walking and pointing down the flowers.
Kore was confused; she could not understand this god. He did not seem scary, not anymore. In the middle of the prairie was a bench made out of gold. Hades walked towards the bench and sat down. Kore decided to sit on the grass, she was comfortable that way. Hades took a deep breath with his eyes closed and let a sigh out. Kore stared at him as they were both silent.
- "So Demeter had a daughter." Hades said as he laughed quietly, a short huff of air out his nose that was barely perceptible. "How old are you, in your first centuries?" He asked.
- "18 years." She responded.
- "18 years...so you're a new born goddess..." Hades said.
- "New born goddess?" She laughed offended. "How old are you?" She asked him.
- "Umm, 8 million years this year." He said indifferently while nodding.
- "8 MILLION YEARS?" She said surprised.
- "This year, yes." He responded.
- "That's a lot of time." She said while growing flowers on the grass.
- "You'll get there." He said while watching the flowers rapidly grow on the grass; amazed. "So you're moving up here?" He asked.
- "No." she laughed.
- "You'll be... Zeus likes to control the lives of every living being. You're too far away from him." Hades said.
- "You sound like my mother, he didn't seem that bad." Kore said "But truth is, is too early to tell, right?" She said while looking up to him.
- "You seem smart kid." He told her while standing up. "Be careful up here." He said while lending her his hand.
She reached for his hand and stands up. Hades starts walking away and into the woods. Kore follows him through the woods, both quiet. She couldn't figure out this Hades persona. "He seemed reachable a moment ago... now I don't even know if I should talk to him." She thought. They continued to walk in silence until they arrived back to the gathering. Hades continued to walk away from her not even turning back and went his way. Kore looked at him from afar as he walked away, and turned the other way. On his way out, Hades crossed ways with Zeus who stopped him.
- "You seem in a rush big brother." Zeus said.
- "Heading back home...long way down. Remember? I don't live here." Hades said annoyed.
- "I'm sorry, you're right...Before you go, saw you interacting with Demeter's child. Isn't she gorgeous?" Zeus said with a flirtatious smile.
- "Congratulations brother, you outdid yourself with that one." Hades said in an attempt to finish the conversation.
- "I really did...I really did...That will be your wife." Zeus said looking firmly at him.
- "Are you mad?" Hades said surprised and annoyed.
- "I read your energy brother, you liked that kid and as it turns out, you need a wife. It's time brother." Zeus said raising his eyebrows.
- "Zeus." Hades said while putting his hands on Zeus shoulders. "Not just because you felt the attraction I'll make her my wife. She's a young goddess. For our sakes!" Hades yelled.
- "You will." Said Zeus.
- "I refuse to sentence her to a life in the underworld, Zeus. She doesn't deserve that... not now that I've met her. Marry her to Apollo, or someone else...He needs a wife, just don't do this." Hades said with a worried face.
- "I'm afraid I have to brother, now here is my command." Zeus began.
- "Zeus, don't." Hades said clenching his jaw.
- "You, Hades, ruler of the shadows, shall take Kore to the underworld and make her your Queen." Zeus said. He got near Hades ear and whispered: "It is my command."
Hades, in rage, disappeared from the garden leaving a giant black cloud of dust. Everyone looked that way as the cloud was overwhelming.
- "Hades... always have to make an exit right?" Zeus laughed. "Continue on having a great time everyone." He said while drinking from his glass.
- To be continued
