ELSA STRUGGLED AGAINST the ropes that tied her to the tree. She wished she could make an ice shard or something useful to cut the ropes, but the soldiers had placed cuffs on her that she knew something was different. She felt her magic being drained as she looked at what appeared to be ordinary shackles. Ruins lit up in gold all the way around the cuffs, and she grunted as she balled her hands into fists. She wouldn't be able to do anything as long as these were dampening her magic.

"Struggling is pointless, Elsa," Mama stated as she leaned her head back against the tree.

Of course, the soldiers had decided to tie both her and Mama to the same tree while Papa was off to the right tied to a tree by himself. If anything, she wished she would be alone. Alone so she could think. Think about Anna. Pray she was safe.

Elsa sighed in response. Even if what Mama said was true, she had to try. She had to find a way to escape. She wasn't just going to sit here and do nothing, allowing the soldiers the victory of killing them.

She tried to lean forward, putting some strain on the rope hoping it would either loosen or snap. She huffed and rolled her eyes seeing it wasn't working, and Mama being tied beside her didn't help but elevate her anger. "Ugh, Mama, why aren't you helping?" Her eyes darted to the left at her mother. "If anything this is your fault. We shouldn't have been anywhere near the Dark Seas in the first place."

"Excuse me?" Mama snapped. "This is hardly my fault. We needed to learn more about your magic to help you—"

"Iduna," Papa interrupted. "This isn't help—"

"I am well aware, Agnarr!" Mama's voice rose. Elsa had never seen her raise her voice at Papa before. "But she needs to know that we came here to help her, not hurt her." She let out an aggravated sigh.

Mama's words only made Elsa angrier. She blew some hair from her eyes as her heartbeat quickened from her rage. "Of course, only you would think that I need help because you're afraid of me. But I'm doing perfectly fine controlling my magic. I don't need you and Papa to babysit me. While you two were off playing protective parents, Anna is over here getting engaged to a guy she just met! How about you pay more attention to your daughter's life since Anna is so important to you!"

Mama gritted her teeth. Elsa could only imagine what went through her mind.

"We're not afraid of you, Elsa." Papa's voice broke the stillness. "We knew you were special for a long time, and I have a feeling I know why you have magic. That's what we were going to find."

"The people of Arendelle would have placed you as a witch and would've tried to run you out of the kingdom," Mama's voice trailed off and went soft, "If not worse. We just want to help you, Elsa."

"We are well aware that Anna wishes to engage herself to Prince Hans," Papa spoke. "I have denied them several times. The Southern Isles have nothing good to say about their Prince. He's number thirteen in line for his throne, and I can't help but think that he's using Anna instead of loving her like a man should. I haven't dismissed what's been going on with Anna. You've just been first on my mind."

Elsa heaved a sigh, trying to calm herself down. Maybe Papa was right. He always knew how to talk to her, calm her down. She should've been having this conversation with him all along. Not Mama.

She looked up and eyed him as questions raced through her mind. "Then why am I like this?" She shrugged. "Why was I given this curse? Since your so bent on finding answers, why haven't you found any?"

    Papa frowned. "Elsa, listen we—"

    "Shut up!"

Elsa jumped as a man's gruff voice filled the air. She cocked her head past her mother to find two soldiers stalking this way.
