ANNA STORMED through the empty corridors towards the bed chamber she shared with her sister. The party had ended almost an hour ago, and Hans had gone back to one of the inns for the night after spending the last couple hours with her out on the town.

Her brow wrinkled into a frown as anger boiled through her veins. "How could Papa say no?" she asked out loud as she stomped down the red carpet. Hans was her only chance of romance, and Papa said no? She gritted her teeth as she continued to argue with herself. "Maybe Mama could change his mind. Or Elsa!" She folded her arms across her chest. "She could tell him how unreasonable he's being."

Her frown slowly curled into a smile. Papa favored Elsa; it was no secret. She understood why with her sister being the oldest. Someone had to teach her how to rule as queen when he was gone. That's it! If Elsa would just talk to him, Papa would certainly give Anna and Hans his blessing!

She quickened her pace. With each step, her chances of marrying the Prince of the Southern Isles grew brighter. Reaching the bed chamber, she rapped on the door playfully before entering.

"Elsa!" she began, knowing her sister would be inside. "Guess what?" She entered the chamber and found Elsa standing on their balcony with Mama's burgundy shawl wrapped around her shoulders, looking out over the town. She had already dressed into her maroon nightgown for the evening, and upon seeing the shaw, Anna's smile rapidly dipped into a frown.

She quietly slipped into her green nightgown and took out the pens that held her pigtail braids tightly in a bun until they rested against her shoulders. "Elsa? Is everything all right?"

Elsa lowered her head, seeming undisturbed by her intrusion. Anna didn't even really have to ask what was bothering her sister. She was there to hear Papa's announcement, and even though it didn't bother Anna that they had kept their voyage a secret from the girls, Anna wasn't the one being thrown into protecting the kingdom for who knew how long.

When Elsa didn't answer, Anna spoke, "I bet you're worried about being in charge of the kingdom, aren't you?" Still, no reply came from her sister. Anna grinned trying to show her support. "Don't worry! You're gonna do so good that the kingdom will be so impressed!" She placed an elbow on the stone railing and leaned against it while facing Elsa. "It's only got a short while. What could go wrong?"

Anna reached out to place a comforting hand on Elsa's shoulder, but Elsa stepped to the side and turned her back on Anna. Anna was taken aback by her sister's actions, her brow furrowing with confusion. "Elsa, what is it?"

Elsa gripped the edges of the shaw and drew it closer to her body.

Anna huffed. "Elsa, I can't help you if you don't tell—"

Unexpectedly, Elsa flung herself around to face Anna. "Why, Anna?" Her shout came across as heartbroken, and the way her eyebrows scrunched together told Anna that her older sister was beyond upset. "You really want to marry a man who I don't even know? You're willing to just walk away from the kingdom? From Papa and Mama? From me, and do what? Just live out the rest of your life in the Southern Isles? You're okay with just leaving me here all alone?" Tears sparkled on Elsa's bottom eyelids, and for some strange reason, a cold shiver ran up Anna's spine on this warm summer night. She folded her arms and drew them close to her chest for warmth.

Anna's brow twisted in perplexity. "Is that what you're worried about? Elsa, I would never leave you!" She glanced down at her hands, folding them in front of her. "Well, I mean, we haven't discussed any of those details, but wherever I go we'll always stay in touch."

Elsa jabbed a finger at her own chest. "But you're leaving me! Wherever you go, you'll be too busy being his wife than to be my sister. I can't lose you, Anna! I can't!"
