EPISODE 42

They reached the mall.

"What shall we do now?" Ranbir asked Pragya.

Pragya began scanning the place carefully, racking her brain to find at least a clue. Her eyes fell upon the CCTV.

"Look, there is a CCTV. It must have recorded what ever had happened." she said pointing at it.

They went to the manager and requested him to let them see the footage.

"Ma'am, it's against our rules to show it to anyone." the manager said.

"Please try to understand, my daughters are inside the bar and I need proof to save them. This footage is very crucial for us. We won't see any happenings inside the mall, we want to check what had happened outside." she requested.

The manager thought for a while assented to it.

"I also have a daughter and can understand your pain, so I'm allowing you. Don't tell anyone about it else I might loose my job." 

"We won't tell anyone and thanks a lot." Pragya said gratefully.

They checked the CCTV footage. It showed that a girl pushed another girl in front of a moving truck which hit her while a third girl is screaming for help. Everything was in accordance with Rhea's description except that the face of the girls were not visible due to the placement of the CCTV.

"It's exactly happening as what Rhea has said." Aryan exclaimed after they had played the footage several time.

"But that girl can be someone else and not Prachi." Ranbir pointed.

"Rhea swears that she was Prachi." Aryan reminded.

"Rhea was pushed and she couldn't have seen the attackers face clearly." 

"The girl is wearing the same dress which Prachi wears, so......."

"Shut up yaar, do you really want to save Prachi?" Ranbir asked angrily.

"Sorry bro, I was only stating the facts that could go against us."

"I agree with Aryan. The police won't believe us so easily, especially when the FIR has been lodged by the daughter of an affluent person." Pragya agreed with Aryan.

"Are you saying that we won't be able to bring out Prachi and Shahana from the jail?" Ranbir asked dejectedly.

"I didn't say that. I meant that this footage is of no use. We have to somehow prove that Prachi was at a different place at the time of the accident." Pragya explained.

"We can say that she was somewhere with Shahana." Ranbir suggested.

"Don't forget Shahana is behind bars too." Aryan reminded.

"Then we can say they were with us." Ranbir said again.

"It won't do. You were in the office and we shouldn't take the help of lie. If they are innocent, we there will be some way in which we will be able to prove it."

They tried to find proofs for the entire day but were unsuccessful. They were forced to return back home.

"When will maasi come? I don't want to stay here any longer." Shahana said sadly.

"Don't worry, maa has promised us. She will come soon to take us out of here. Ranbir and Aryan are also helping her. I know they will prove our innocence." Prachi's heart knew that her loved ones would bring her out. "Now go to sleep."

"How can I go to sleep here?" Shahana said pointing at the hard and dirty floor of the cell where they were sitting.

"Try sleeping like this." Prachi said placing Shahana's head on her shoulder.

Though Shahana didn't want to sleep, she didn't move away from the posture. The warmth of her sister provided her hope even in the dark cell. She just placed Prachi's head on hers. Both of them sat in each others embrace, sleep miles away from them.

On the other hand, neither Pragya nor Ranbir and Aryan could sleep either.

Pragya held a picture from which Prachi's and Shahana's faces smiled at her. She was guilty of not being able of fulfilling her promise of keeping them away from harm's way.

Ranbir lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling and thinking of ways he could prove Prachi's innocence. He was frustrated on himself for being unable to do anything that day itself.

Aryan felt angry on his sister Rhea and her friend Dimpy for accusing his friends. Rhea should have thought before accusing someone like Prachi and Dimpy had trapped Shahana uselessly. Sure Shahana got angry but she didn't mean any harm. And his mother behaved really odd sometimes and trusted Rhea blindly.

All of them prayed to God for helping them and making things right.

"Hey there! Come out both of you." a constable said unlocking the door of the cell.

"Where are you taking us?" Prachi asked.

"Nowhere. You have been bailed." he informed.

"Who bailed us?" Prachi asked surprised as Pragya was not there.

"He is standing there." the constable pointed towards someone talking with the inspector.
