Ranbir hadn't been able to extract any information from Rishi. He didn't want to miss wishing Prachi for whatever the special event was. So, he had too brought a gift for her.
"Why did you ask me for help among everyone else?" Ranbir asked suddenly.
"You are her best friend and know her better than me. You are the one she is comfortable with and confides in. You are the one who is always by her side and protect her no matter what the situation is. So, I thought you will know what would make her happy." Rishi said with a smile.
For a moment Ranbir felt as if Rishi was shipping him and Prachi, but brushed off the thought with his logic. He bid him farewell and left for his home.
"Where had you gone without informing me?" Aryan asked him as soon as he entered his room.
"I had gone for shopping with Rishi........."
"What! Even you have fallen for Rishi's charms! You forgot all about me and made him your best buddy." Aryan said in an offended tone.
"Hey Einstein, stop drawing conclusions and listen to me." Ranbir narrated everything to him.
"I think you should not have bought the gift without knowing what is the occasion........" Aryan, who knew the plan suggested.
"Whatever the occasion is, I can gift her something as my friend. Don't worry too much about it." Ranbir dismissed Aryan's suggestion.
"You are going to repent for not listening to me." Aryan thought and sighed.

Prachi was putting on her ear rings when she noticed Shahana in the mirror. She was smirking at her.
Prachi sighed. Since the day before, Shahana had been bragging about winning the bet. But, Prachi was clever too, she placed a condition that she would not go herself to tie a rakhi to Ranbir. She would do so only if Ranbir came in front of her. Prachi thought it was a nice strategy since they had a holiday and would not go to either the college or office.
"Prachi......Shahana......Are you ready?" Pragya called out.
They proceeded to the living room where Rishi was waiting for them.
"Did you bring gift for me?" Shahana asked Rishi.
"My gift for you is that I won't take the fare for dropping you to college and office everyday." Rishi said.
"What! I won't tie rakhi to you then." she pouted.
"Shahana....." Pragya chided her lightly smiling.
"It's useless to tell anything to this dumbo. Prachi, you tie the rakhi first." Sarita ji frowned at Shahana while giving a smile to Prachi.
Rishi forwarded his hand and Prachi held the rakhi just above his wrist when someone barged in.
"Hey, what's..........." Ranbir greeted in his usual jovial voice but stopped mid-sentence when he noticed the rakhi in Prachi's hand. "RAKHI?"
"You came at the right moment. We were about to just start. Please come in." Shahana grinned and dragged him inside as he was planning to run away.
"Why did you come here?" Prachi glared at him as if she would eat him alive.
"Is this the way to talk to guests? Have a seat please." Pragya smiled.
"Bye, I have some work." Aryan who was forced to come by Ranbir made a last attempt to flee.
"Wait for a minute. We'll go together." Ranbir gave him a look which meant that if he isn't going to let Aryan scot-free while he himself was in a mess.
"What's in your hand?" Shahana pointed at the box in Ranbir's hand.
"It's nothing........" he tried to hide it, but Shahana was too quick.
"It has Prachi's name written on it. I guess it's a rakhi gift for you Prachi, you will have to tie him a rakhi." Shahana was trying hard to control her laughter after seeing Pranbir's expressions.
"No! It's not for Prachi. It's for.....you! Yes, you are like my sister, so this is a rakhi gift for you." Ranbir cooked up an excuse.
"But my name is Shahana, not Prachi." she stated.
"Of course your name is Shahana. I wanted to write Prachi's sister but did not have time." Ranbir was going out of excuses.
"Are you done with your enquires? I'm tired of waiting." Rishi came to Pranbir's rescue.
Prachi tied rakhi to Rishi which Ranbir shocked to the core. The poor soul could not rejoice as he knew of the impending misfortune. He cursed himself for acting out of jealousy and coming to Prachi's house that day.
"I have only one more rakhi left and I want to tie it to Aryan as he is more of my brother than Ranbir." Prachi's heart wouldn't allow her to tie Ranbir a rakhi.
Ranbir heaved a sigh of relief while Shahana, Pragya and Sarita ji gave a teasing grin.
"It isn't fair! Ranbir didn't get a single rakhi. I have one with me, so......" Shahana started.
"NOOOOOO!" Pranbir screamed thinking that she was going to give the rakhi to Prachi to tie it to Ranbir.
"Now, both of you have problem if I tie Ranbir a rakhi?" she asked with an innocent look.
"Oh! I thought......."
"What did you think?" Shahana prompted.
"Nothing......Didn't you want to tie a rakhi?" Ranbir forwarded his hand.
Shahana tied him a rakhi. Ranbir gave her a friendly hug and the gift.
"Who wants gulab jamuns?" Pragya brought a bowl of sweets.
"Won't you tie Rishi a rakhi too?" Aryan asked hopefully.
"No. He isn't my brother." Shahana said.
They had a fun time together. Ranbir didn't have a problem with Rishi any longer.
Ranbir and Aryan were about to board their car when Shahana came running. She handed the gift back to Ranbir.
"Give it to the one for whom you had brought it. Propose her soon before it's too late." she winked and turned to walk away.
"Will she accept it?" Ranbir asked.
"She didn't tie you a rakhi." came the reply.
-----
"Should I propose her on Propose Day or Rose Day or Valentines Day? No.....I should propose her on Diwali.......I'll decide the day later......How should I propose her? A romantic date or a long drive? Ugh! None of those is good enough." Ranbir had been pacing up and down in his room since the last 45 minutes. "Suggest me something Aryan." he turned to his best friend for advice, only to find him sulking in a corner.
"Hey, what happened?" Ranbir asked.
"My life has been doomed." Aryan exclaimed dramatically.
"Stop being dramatic and tell me what exactly is bothering you?" he asked.
"Bro, you are too selfish. Your path is cleared but what about me? Rishi isn't Shahana's brother." he said making a cry baby face unknown to the fact that after they had left, Rishi had given Shahana her gift and she had tied him a rakhi in turn.
