y/n POV...

Later in the day it was about 4pm when we decided to get dried off and warmed up. George had lit a small campfire on the sand outside of the cottage. We had sat on an old tree log with a blanket wrapped around us.

"Did you ever think we end up here?" George asked turning my attention away from the fire I had been looking at. "No not at all" I said honestly. "I always thought we would have just remained friends". He nodded. "Did you?" I asked. "I think I always loved you deep down but was always scared to act on my feelings until I did last year when I realised I had to do something even if it meant you rejecting me" He chuckled the last part. "You know I always loved you platonically and Fred, but I guess ours became more than platonic" I said.

"Personally, I think we were both just really stubborn on admitting it, I know I was anyway. I mean I fucking kissed Katie Bell because I never ever imagined you would ever feel the same way. I kissed her to try and get you out of my head" George said. "You had literally taken over my mind and I was just a wimp, couldn't even gather the courage to tell you "He finished. "But now that I do have you, I don't plan on losing you y/n." He said turning and pulling something from his bag. He pulled out a small box and then turned to look back at me.

"George..." I trailed off.
"Don't worry I'm not asking you to marry me, not yet anyway" he smirked. "But I want to give you this" he opens the box revealing a small ring with a ruby stone. "As a promise that once all this war is all over, we can be together for ever. Just me and you. Oh and of course Fred will be around" he chuckled. "You mean so much to me y/n, not just because you're my girlfriend but because you have also been my best friend for the last 13 years." He said pulling the ring from its box. He gently took my hand in his and then placed the ring on my finger. I looked down to my hand to admire the ring before looking back up to have George's face just inches away from my own. He was looking at me with what I can only describe as pure love in his eyes.

His face began to inch forward as his eyes flickered towards my lips and then back up to my eyes. He then leaned closer so that our lips finally connected. His hands quickly moving to my cheeks to hold me close to him. The kiss began to get more heated as George pulled me from the log, we were sat on so that my legs were straddling his waist. His hands moved from my waist so that he could grab my thighs and pull me closer to him. "I love you so much y/n" he said breaking the kiss for a moment. "I love you to George" I said whilst trying to briefly catch my breath. George suddenly stood up whist still holding me. I wrapped my arms around his neck to support myself.

He began walking in the direction of the house but as we were walking a loud voice shouted "Oi put her down" we both turned around to see Fred walking up the beach. "What are you doing here?" George asked clearly annoyed at his brother, you could tell from the tone of his voice. Just as Fred got to where we were stood George had carefully place me back on the ground and placed his arm around my shoulder. "Mum asked me to come get you, were having a family dinner." Fred said. "How did you know we were here?" I asked. "Bill and Fleur told us." He said shrugging. "Now let's go mum said not to be late" Fred said turning on the spot.

"We'll finish what we started later" George whispers in my ear before sending me a wink causing my cheeks to turn red. "Not at the burrow we won't" I shot back. "It won't be at the burrow" he said wiggling his eyebrows. I looked at him giving him a knowing look. "Me and you both know that Molly will make us all stay there tonight" I smirked knowing I had won the argument. "You know I right" I said. "Yeah, I know which is why I'm going to do this" he quickly picked me up and flung me over his shoulder "Hold tight" he said before apperating on the spot so that we landed outside the burrow. "There here mum" Fred yelled as he walked inside. "You're a wanker" I said as he put me down. "But I'm your wanker" he smirked as we walked inside.
