Chapter 16- The Moment

The morning after I woke up feeling strange, I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong though, so I simply just shrugged the feeling off and tried not to think about it while I got ready for school. I had the most wonderful shower which energised me even more. When I got dressed, I decided to wear a lovely cream blouse which looks like something Rose would wear, and put on a pair burgundy jeans with a lovely pair of wedge boots. I then took out a brown lather coat and a pretty scarf. Once I had finished getting dressed and done my makeup how Alice had shown me how to do, I moved onto my hair, today I wanted to fishtail plait it because I loved how it looked when Ness had done it to her hair. When I finished my hair and the new braid fell down one side of my shoulder I grabbed my school bag and headed for the door.

As I walked towards the door I quickly glanced at the clock, realising I was running slightly late I thew open the door only to remember that I needed my phone which was on charge next to my bed. Quickly jogging back to get it I popped it into my bag and ran slightly faster in the direction of the hall, not wanting Rosalie to get annoyed with me for being late. As I exited my room I grabbed the door handle and pulled it shut behind me. As I quickly turned on my heal rather fast towards the stairs, I suddenly crashed into the hardest feeling object ever, sending me tumbling towards the ground. Just had my bum was about to meet the wooden floor, two very sturdy hands flew out and grabbed my arms, it wasn't until I looked up that I saw the most beautiful face staring back at me in horror, I had crashed into Nick.

"Im so sorry, are you alright Ahria?" He questioned me, I couldn't help but just stare it his beauty, I hadn't even realised he had said anything until he pulled me up slightly. I quickly shook myself out of the weird, obsessed, starting state to reply to him after he had asked the question again.

"Ermm.. Yeah, I'm er.. Fine." I stuttered as I looked at him again, he was also staring at me and as he did his face became lighter in expression and a smile twitched at the corners. 'My god, he is gorgeous' I thought. In relation to my thought my face blazed as I blushed which just made him smile even more. Then I realised I was still in his grasp, I felt comfortable here, not awkward at all, just nice. I looked up at him again and our eyes locked, this time I didn't blush I held my ground and stared at him as much as he was staring at me. That moment seemed to last for an eternity, us two stood in the middle of the hallway staring at each other with smiles on our faces. It reminded me of when I saw Rose and Emmett curled up on the couch just staring at each other the other week. This moment with Nick must have lasted just mere seconds though. Just as he was about to say something, our little bubble was burst "Come on, we're leaving in 30 seconds" Rosalie shouted from the first floor. This grabbed both mine and Nicks attention and he slowly removed his arms away from my body. As his touch left mine, I felt a sting of absence in my chest and the strange feeling in my stomach disappeared only to leave a hollow feeling in its place. I looked up towards Nick and suddenly felt embarrassed and awkward by our little moment, so I quickly walked past hoping to gain a some distance.

As I made it down the stairs I realised the rest of the family were standing around waiting for me. The only other person who hadn't come down yet was Nick. I sighed as I thought about him not knowing what had just happened.

"It's about time" Emmett boomed as I approached my family members. He quickly took me into a bear hug and then set me back in my feet, I smiled at him as genuinely as I could, hoping he wouldn't ask to many questions. "You seem Nick little sis?" He asked, I sighed again and shook my head not wanting to explain what had happened. I moved over to where Ness and Jacob were standing and gave them a false smile, Ness immediately knew something was off and gave me a quizzical look, I quickly glanced away pretending I hadn't seen her questionable look. Suddenly I felt a cool touch on my cheek and then there were pictures flowing through my head of what had happened since I came down the stairs. I quickly shot Ness a 'just leave it' look and she dropped her and looked sad. Feeling bad a mouthed 'later' to her, she smiled back at me and spoke to Jake about something. Luckily none of our family members apart from Edward had been aware of mine and Ness' exchange, but he didn't say anything, which was good. A few seconds later Nick came down the stairs with his bag and joined the family. I quickly said goodbye to Esme, Carlisle had already left for work and then we all headed towards our cars, the same ones we travelled in yesterday. As I saw Nick climb into the Volvo, I began to feel really awkward again so quickly walked over to Emmett "can I ride with you and Rose today?" I asked in a sweet and innocent voice, Emmett's smile grew bigger and bigger by the second "of course you can" he replied and opened the door to his jeep for me, I quickly turned to look at Edward to tell him but he was already looking at me, he waved and got into the Volvo and reversed out of the garage. I turned back to jeep and went to climb in when all of a sudden my feet left the ground, I let out a small scream until I realised it was Emmett, he started laughing ridiculously loud as he set me in the jeep and helped me with the buckle. As he shut my door and climbed into the driver seat Rosalie turned and smiled at me as did Emmett, and then we were off.
