Chapter 14 - Questions

Edwards POV.

While Alice decided to drag the females of our family around a Mall all day, I decided it would be a nice time to do some brotherly bonding. Of course that meant who could catch the biggest lunch. Emmett, Nick, Jasper and I all headed out into the woods about an hour after they had left, we ran through the trees also turning it into a competition of who could get to the usual hunting spot first. Even though Emmett is stronger than myself and could use his strength in the power of his run to make him faster, I still won. I laughed to myself when I saw him come through the trees with a pout on his face. Three seconds later Jasper and Nick had joined us laughing at the pointless race because we all knew I would win anyway. I could hear Emmett's thoughts loud and clear as he was thinking about beating me in a fight, yes that's something he would win, obviously if I didn't have my mind reading gift that is.

"Ahria can beat you! You're not the fastest anymore. So ha." He said with a bitter amused tone to his voice. He was right, 'I still can't get my head around how a half mortal could be so fast, and strong. Also what was up with her and Jasper the other day, it was like she tried to influence his emotions when he touched her, and I can't hear her mind sometimes' I was thinking about all this while the others discussed how fast Ahria could run, until I heard Emmets thoughts.

"Don't even try it Emmett" I warned him, knowing he was thinking about attacking me, in a brotherly way of course. He simply groaned and huffed at me foiling his plan. Nick started laughing at the defeated Emmett.

"Damn you and your mind reading power!" he replied looking at me menacingly. We all chuckled while looking at each other. In unison we nodded and then we were off. Turning our hunt into a game. A few minutes later I heard in Emmets thoughts of him catching the scent of a mountain lion. 'Ha, I can do better than that.' I thought to myself. I let my vampire instincts free to pick up any scents that would control the blazing burn in my throat. Another few seconds passed while I ran through the forest when I caught the scent of a grizzly bear, I headed straight for it lunging at its thickly hair covered throat. I snapped it easily as if it ware a twig. I drank until my thirst was quenched and the carcass was empty of blood. I dragged it back to the meeting point, finding Nick had already arrived, he had a large Elk but my bear obviously beat it, we laughed together. After a minute Emmet came through the trees with a big mountain lion over his shoulders like it was part of a fur coat. Nick and I laughed at him as he began to strut it across the small opening in the trees pretending to be a highly privileged woman with a fox around her neck. We compared our kills and he threw his dead mountain lion to the floor when he realised he had lost to me, again. I started laughing this time because I had beaten him, again. Suddenly Jasper came wandering through the forest with a drained bear dragging behind him.

"HAHA! Your grizzly looks like a baby compared to Jazz's" Emmett bellowed through the trees, I looked at Jaspers kill and agreed that it was one hell of a bear. 'It was huge' I thought to myself. I saw in Jaspers mind that he had tracked it back to its cave where he caught it. 'It looked even bigger in the memories.' I thought to myself astonished at how big it was. Emmett, Nick, Jasper and I all messed around for a while and when we got bored we headed for home. This time I decided to let Emmett win. As we approached the house we all slowed down to a walk ready to enter the house, Emmet reached the back door first and he turned to face me and stuck his tongue at me, I just rolled my eyes and followed him inside. Emmett immediately went to sit on the couch and turned the tv on the sports channel. I sighed and went over to the corner to read a book. Jasper sat down next to Em and watched the football with him, and Nick disappeared somewhere, to his room because I could hear his faint music playing.

Several hours had passed when Carlisle had returned home and he came in and joined us in the living room and spoke about his day until the girls came driving up the driveway. Before they even reached the house I could hear all their thoughts, some where happy and some where annoyed, then there was my Ness, she was tired I could hear in her thoughts she was longing for her bed.. And Jacob. I sighed at that thought and put down my book to go and meet them, as did the others.

Another hour passed in which Ness and Ahria had fallen asleep on Emmett and Alice had put away all the shopping. We sat in silence for a while, I listened in on Ahria's dreams, she was dreaming about running in the forest. Ness was dreaming about.. Jacob. I sighed again. Suddenly I heard my beautiful wife thoughts, that was strange she never lifts her shield just to talk to me. She told me about what and happened in the food court and how she doesn't understand what happened. I nodded at her, before she put her Shield back in place she thought 'I love you' I looked her and kissed her before I left the room, looking at Ahria's mind before I left, I couldn't hear anything. That was strange. I went up the stairs, 'I need to talk with Carlisle' I thought. I reached his study's door and knocked, a few milliseconds later he called for me to come in.

"Ah, Edward. How are you son?" He said in a friendly tone. He looked up away from what he was looking at to look at me as I came towards his desk. I sat down in a chair and looked back at him. "I'm good thank you" I replied smiling at him.

"What is it you wish to talk to me about Edward" he said in a more concerned tone. "Is everyone alright?" He questioned. "Yes, everyone is fine" I assured him. "I need to talk to you about Ahria." I said looking in to his eyes. "What's wrong?" He said slightly confused. I could hear in his mind he was thinking about the newest member of our family and how perfect she was, and how he would hate if something would happen to her.

"Nothing, I don't think" I said smiling slightly trying to lift the mood. "I just think something strange is going on-" he gestured with his hands for me to go on when I stopped "-well the other day when Jasper touched her to calm her emotions, it was like she tried to manipulate his emotions. And today, Bella told me about when she touched Nessie's cheek, Ness said she saw something." I stopped thinking about what I would say next. 'I sounded crazy' I thought.

"What does she think about it all, I mean in her mind?" Carlisle questioned. "Thats the thing, I don't know, sometimes I can read her mind but other times it's like she is blocking me a bit like Bella." I said telling the complete truth. Carlisle just looked at me and nodded. "Well, I don't know what to say." He said, looking like he was in deep thought. After a few minutes he said "I think we should just see how she goes, they could have been misunderstandings. There's no need to worry her, especially with school starting in a few days." I nodded in agreement and we both left the study heading toward the living room to be with our family. I saw Ness and Ahria still asleep on the couch with Emmett looking really comfy in between them. I decided to leave them be for while and went to sit back next to my perfect wife. She looked at me with a questionable look and I winked at her, she smiled at me moving closer to cuddle up to my chest. The whole family was here except for Nicolas who was in his room playing music. I listened to the gentle music, wondering what the future held for us all, 'we needed to get through high school first' I thought with a chuckle.
