Violet
My first instinct was to shut the door at him. So that was what I did. Before my door slammed shut, he shoved his foot in to prevent it from closing.
I heard Zayn sigh and say, “Violet, please.”
I opened the door at him and stared at him waiting for him to talk. When he didn’t, I asked him, “What do you want, Zayn?”
He was taken back by my sudden boost of confidence. Even I was. Zayn didn’t answer me and I was growing impatient. I tried closing the door on him again and he let me. I waited by my door, in case he knocked again. I heard footsteps and the sound of a car engine.
I peeked out my window to find that Zayn drove away. I opened the door to find that the flowers he brought me was at my doorstep including a small note he must have wrote me.
I picked up the note and read what it said.
Violet,
I know you’re probably pissed at me but I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have ganged up on you the other day. Its either I shouldn’t have smiled at you or I shouldn’t have let the guys hit you. This doesn’t mean we’re friends in a way. I will still pick on you with the other guys. I just came to say I’m sorry.
Zayn Malik.
I stared at the note. I honestly didn’t know what to do. Why would he send me this? Why would he say he’s sorry and then say we’re not going to be friends? What the hell? I was becoming furious. I was afraid of him but still. I tore the paper to pieces out of my anger. I looked at the bouquet of flowers. I had to admit, it looked beautiful. But the fact Zayn Malik gave it to me made me sick. Thinking about Zayn made my head hurt a lot more. I took the flowers and chucked it on my kitchen counter.
My head was starting to hurt badly. I could feel myself starting to get light headed. I walked to my couch and laid down. I closed my eyes as my head fell against the soft material of the pillow. “Mia, are you okay? Do you need me to get your medicines?” I heard Rosie ask.
“Yes, please,” I whispered to her. She must have heard me because within minutes she came to me with a glass of water and my pills. I got up and swallowed those pills with the help of my water. I thanked Rosie and went back to resting. I tried not to think about Zayn or anything. My thoughts were gone when I was absorbed into my slumber.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
What was that sound? My sweet slumber was disturbed when I heard sounds. I sat up and realised someone was knocking on my door. I walked up to the door, still groggy from the short nap I took. I opened the door without even checking and instantly regretted when I did. At my doorstep , stood someone I didn’t want to see.
“Hi, Violet,” Calum said as his brown eyes looked into mine.
I didn’t say anything to him. It was either because I was still fuddled from my sleep or I was completely shocked to see him. I mean I shouldn’t be that shocked. I knew sooner or later he would be here, considering the fact I didn’t answer any of his calls.
He chuckled when I didn’t say anything and then asked, “Are you okay?”
I blinked at him and then finally answered him.
“Yea. I was asleep. So, yea.” I was still unsure of what to say. If I talked to him now, it would probably ruin my plans to not talk to them again. But at the same time, he’s standing at my doorstep. He came to visit me. How can I just push him away? I sighed silently. I guess I would have to take baby steps, yea?
“Oh, no wonder. You do look tired. Can I come in?” Calum asked, his pearly whites shining at me.
I nodded and made space for him to come in. He was carrying something behind him which I didn’t know what it was. I followed behind him and sat down on the couch. Calum still stood, holding whatever he had behind him.
“What is that?” I asked him.
“I’ve got you something,” Calum said.
Great. Now he’s wasting money on someone worthless. But I had to look excited for him.
I smiled at him, trying to peek at what was behind him.
“Hey!” Calum scolded. “No peeking! You gotta do something first,” Calum was now smirking at me. Oh god. What does this kid have on his mind?
“What do I have to do?” I asked him.
Calum chuckled and said, “Stand up, first.”
I rolled my eyes at him but complied to his command. I got on my feet and walked a little closer to him. “Happy?” I asked him.
“A little. But you have to do something else.”
I raised my eyebrows at him.
Calum cheeks were turning a tint of red. Was Calum Hood becoming shy? I couldn’t help the giggle that escaped my mouth.
“Heyyyyy. What are you laughing about?” Calum asked.
I smiled at him and said, “You’re becoming shy. I find it extremely adorable.”
Calum rolled his eyes at me. “You want to know what I got you?”
I nodded my head at him, trying to act eager.
“I need a kiss first,” Calum said, smiling at me cheekily.
SHIT. How is this baby steps? I’m screwed in so many ways right now. I looked down at his lips. Those plump pink lips. I loved how our lips would mold perfectly together. The way fireworks would burst inside of me. They way my stomach would be filled with butterflies. I knew with thoughts like this on my mind I would not be able to decline his request.
I moved closer and looked up into his eyes. He was already looking down at mine. “Kiss me already,” he whispered. I smiled and connected our lips. Just like I said, fireworks and butterflies were all over the place. Calum reluctantly disconnect our lips. I was fairly disappointed but this was not good for me. I knew it wasn’t.
Calum smiled down at me, the sides of his eyes crinkling. “You want to know what I got you?”
I smiled and nodded my head.
A teddy bear stuffed with small material and covered with brown fur like plush, appeared from Calum’s back. It was adorable. It really was. I held it in my hand and it was mushy and squashy. I smiled down at it and looked up at Calum. “Calum..you didn’t have to.”
“Yea I know. But I wanted to. Do you like it?”
Calum was probably the sweetest guy I know. This made me completely forget about the whole Zayn incident. “Yes, Cal! I love it,” I said as I enveloped him into a hug.
Calum smiled and then said, “Violet, there’s a reason I gave you this.”
Oh no. What was he going to say?
“Yea?” I asked him.
Calum looked nervous. He took a deep breath in and finally spoke. “Violet, the other day, when your head hit those lockers and you went unconscious, I realised something. I could have almost lost you. You have no idea how much that killed me. Its probably only been a month or so since we met, but trust me, I do not want to lose you. Violet, I don’t want to imagine a world without you. I know you’re going through a lot, but please Violet, let me in and let me help you. I won’t let you down. I promise I won’t. Please let your guard down to let me in. Violet, I would protect you no matter what. Violet, I really really like you. So Violet, would you like to be my girlfriend?”
