Violet

“Can we go out this weekend?” Calum asked me through the phone.

“Sure, where to?” I asked him.

The other line went silent then he answered, “ I don’t know. Anywhere’s fine.”

“Alright then, see you on Friday,” I told him.

“Yeah, I’ll see you then. Now get to school you lazy pants,” Calum chuckled through the phone.

I smiled and eventually ended the call. Calum had called me early in the morning just to talk to me. I found it extremely cute how he would be up in the morning just to talk to me before I left to school.

I got my stuff read and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I bid my goodbye to Rosie as I walked out and into my car. I cranked it up and drove to school. I can’t wait to graduate and leave this place. I have half a year left and then I can just leave behind all the memories at that hell hole.

I parked my car and started walking into school. I saw Niall over by the lockers and realized I have some explaining to do. Ever since I avoided Calum and the boys, I have been avoiding Liam and Niall too. They’ve noticed it but they know how stubborn I am so they didn’t bother trying to talk to me.  I walked up to my Irish friend and greeted him. Niall seemed to be taken back by sudden appearance beside him.

“Violet!” he beamed.

I smiled at him then answered him.

“Yeah?”

I could see that he wanted to bring up the fact that I’ve been ignoring him but he didn’t. He just smiled at me and said, “Nothing.”

“We have English now. Want to walk together?” I asked him.

He looked down at me for awhile. “Yeah, I would like that.”

I smiled and we started walking together. I knew I couldn’t just ignore everything that has happened to us and that I would need to give Liam and Niall an explanation. “I’ve got so much to tell you,” I spoke up.

Niall chuckled softly then said, “I’m sure you do. So when are we going to talk about it?”

I shrugged my shoulders because I wasn’t really sure.

“Later? After school?” Niall asked.

I guess after school was fine. “Yeah, but we gotta make sure Liam’s free too.”

Niall nodded and we continued our walk to the class with small talk. I knew I had to tell Niall and Liam about me and Calum and also about the whole Zayn thing. If I’m going to trust them, I should at least be honest.

We walked into class and I took my usual seat at the front. The seat beside me has always been empty so Niall sat beside me. We continued talking but Niall soon went silent. He wasn’t looking at me but instead his eyes were directed behind me. I followed his gaze to find that Niall was looking at Zayn, who was actually walking towards me.

“Um, can I talk to Violet?” he asked Niall. Politely might I add.

Niall didn’t say anything but he just nodded.

Zayn hovered over me then said, “Its about our project. I added a few things the other day after you left. Everything’s complete and I think we have a high chance of getting good grades.”

Zayn was actually smiling while talking to me. He was smiling while talking TO ME.

I smiled back at him. “Thank, Zayn.”
