"Impressive. I didn't know you boxed." Nate said, handing the girl her coffee.
Jessica shrugged, thanking him for the coffee. "It's better than doing a bunch of exercises that bore you half to death."
Nate laughs, following the girl outside to an outdoor seating area. "You know when you're friends with someone who you thought was your friend." Nate started. "Turns out to be a completely different person. I just can't understand it."
"Then he probably was never your friend in the first place." Nate looks at the girl. "Take it from me. I know what's like for someone to use you for your name. And judging from Dan, he probably was doing the same."
"No. Dan would never do that." Nate shook his head.
"Just a thought."
"Jessie. The Spectator is on the line. I'm in a financial crisis right now. This article could possibly run me out of business. Reasons why I need to talk to the bank to hopefully extend our credit line."
"Hey." Jessica takes the boy's hand. "If you need anything, I'm here for you. Anything, money, a place to stay, advertisement, anything, you name it. You'll be ok. You're Nathaniel Archibald. You're a badass mother fucker who will do everything he can to save his company that he worked hard for. You'll get through this, I know you will."
He smiles. "Thanks Jessie. You always knew what to say." He definitely missed the girl over the years. It's like a piece of him left when she left. And now that she's back, he felt that piece coming back.
Jessica smiled. "I am pretty awesome."
"Yeah you are. Sage isn't like that." Jessica looked at him with a confused face. "Sage is my girlfriend."
"Oh? You're dating her?" He nodded. Duh that's what girlfriend means Jessica.
"Yeah and she just doesn't understand anything. I know I say she's mature for her age, but I just don't think we have ever had this type of conversation with each other. All she wants is sex, sex, and sex." Tmi Nate, tmi. "Who knows, maybe bonding with her dad will make it better."
"Her dad?"
"Steven is her dad."
"I'm sorry what?"
"Steven is Sage's dad. The same Steven that is dating Serena. Keep up."
"I'm sorry. I'm having trouble comprehending the fact that this situation even exists." But was Jessica even surprised though? Stranger things have happened before.
"Hey it's not weird alright?"
"Yeah totally." Jessica said very sarcastically.
"Hey Sage is a nice person who is very mature for her age."
"You just told me all she ever wants to do is have sex, sex, and guess what? More sex. Hypocrite."
"Ok besides that point. Damn you're extra sassy today."
Jessica shrugged. "Like I said, I've dealt with a lot of fake people in my life." The girl knew the boy wanted to ask her about it which she shook her head. "Another story for another time."
Nate nodded. "Ok well I should probably be heading to the bank." He stands up. "I promise we'll grab dinner soon, when I get all this situated."
Jessica hugged him. "Don't worry about Nathaniel. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon."
Nate smiled, liking the sound of that. Then maybe he'll find grow a pair and confess to her. "Bye Jessie."
