TWENTY-FOUR

"A rooftop bar?" Nate said.

"Yup." Jessica said, popping the p and grabbing his hand. "And oh look an open booth."

Nate chuckled as he let the girl drag him to the booth. They both sit down and look through the menu until a waiter came to take their order.

"Hi. Welcome to Social. I'm Cole and I'll be your waiter for tonight. Are you guys ready to order?" Cole said, looking only at Jessica which pissed Nate off for some reason. She was supposed to be HIS only.

"I'll have the Social burger and a Mai Tai please." Jessica said, smiling at the waiter.

"A Social burger and a Mai Tai for the pretty lady." Cole said then turning to Nate. "And you?"

"Double cheeseburger and a scotch neat. Thank you."

Cole nodded, writing down their orders before walking away. Nate was glaring at the boy. He didn't know why he was feeling like this.

"Nate?" Jessica said, slapping her fingers.

"What?"

"You were spacing out."

"I was?"

Jessica nodded. "What I was saying is that the VS Fashion Show is the day after tomorrow and you better be there."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Nate smiled at the girl which she returned.

Their food and drinks came out quicker than usual.

"So you know your friend Dan?" Jessica asked, taking a bite of her burger.

"He isn't my friend anymore. But yes what about him?" Nate asked, also taking a bite of his burger. 

"I might have popped off on him."

"Popped off?" Nate asked confused. Was this secret code for hooking up?

"Yes Nate popped off as in went off on him as in yelled at him."

"What? I thought you didn't know Dan?"

"I don't." Nate was even more confused. Jessica sighed, realizing the boy could be a little slow sometimes. "I just got out of a workout, I accidentally bumped into someone. That someone being Dan. He introduced himself blah blah blah. In short I said if he truly was your friend he wouldn't have said what he said." Jessica explained. 

"You did that?" Jessica nodded. "Why? You didn't have too."

Jessica shrugged. "I know. But it felt good after. He should know that you've done a lot for him, never putting him down because of where he's from. But yet he does you dirty. Not to mention what he did to Blair." Nate nodded trying to digested what Jessica said. He doesn't remember a time where someone has done something like that for him. The two sat in silence, eating their burger while listening to the music being played in the background. "So are we gonna address the elephant in the room?" 

Nate chuckled. "Nothing to address. After her stunt at cotillion I figured she wasn't the girl for me."

"That's it?"

"Is there suppose to be more?"

Jessica shrugged. "I guess not."

"What are you thinking about?"

"You know how I feel about you. I made it perfectly clear. The question is do you feel the same?"

Nate stared at the girl. He always loved her. That will never stop. He only kept Sage around because he distracted him from Jessica. As bad as it sounds, he didn't know when she was gonna leave again. She's obviously only here for the fashion show. Sooner or later she'll have to leave again. But this time it was different. He had to take a chance. If he doesn't tell the girl how he truly felt, he could lose her forever. She's not gonna wait for him forever.

"You're the one I want to be with."
