Being abducted by Loki, taken to Asgard in the middle of the night in my pjs, being greeted with a smile by Heimdall, being told I'm special by Heimdall none less, given royal clothing, and walking to Odin, King of Asgard, as a messy mid-gardian wasn't really how I expected my night to go.
A few hours ago, I was in my house in Yorkshire, retiring from the day's job as a dance choreographer, munching on a sandwich as a person who didn't keep up with eating schedules much and reeling over a good murder mystery book as a book lover.
My mind was eating all the plot twists of the book when I heard the thunder. Rain is never unexpected to me. I looked away, into the window, for the briefest second before resuming my book.
"I'll tell you how it happened! I will confess! But I need immunity."
Another crack, but this time it was accompanied by the mewling of a cat. Now that had my attention. Poor thing, I thought. In this rain, it might get sick.
I got up and saw through the window of the ground floor, a black cat on the porch, whimpering and shivering. I grabbed a long towel and rushed outside, to take the cat inside. When I opened the door, it looked at me intently, almost as if trying to measure me. I blinked slowly at it, looked away and waited. Sure enough, a minute later, it came close to me. I scooped it up in the towel and brought it in.
"Oo cute kitty! What were you doing outside in a terrible storm like this? Hmm? Don't harm yourself like this. Now, I will take care of you, okay baby? Awwww cute kitty." I keep talking with the cat in a voice we often use with dogs and babies, while I dried him up. I had figured that out by now. He had nice, glossy raven fur, but no collar. Pretty well kept for a stray.
"Now we'll go and sleep, nice and cosy, alright? Such a cutieee"
The cat straightened abruptly and ran for the door, I thought he was getting scared by the rain. He kept on clawing on the door, peeling it's wood. I know it's best to open the door and so I do, following it with an umbrella and a towel.
He went straight towards the center of the garden, in that heavy downpour, and I was in awe of its behaviour. He turned around and I swear I saw his green eyes glow. He sat on the grass, beckoning me to come to it.
I chuckled nervously and went to him. I crouched facing him and petted his head, "What's up kitty?" And even before I could process anything, his paws turned into fingers of a human hand. Even before I could react, I heard a voice, "Let's get you home, shall we?" And then everything went bright, bloody brilliant.
I was in an absolute shock, I felt a hand holding mine, everything was a beam of super brilliant light. I mean I had seen a fair share of Marvel and the superhero stuff but this, I was clearly not processing.
As soon as it started, it ended. I was in motion no longer. The hand that had held mine dropped it, as if it was disgusted by it. I finally began to relax, and checking out my surroundings, because if this was some kidnapping, it was some bloody kidnapping.
My apprehensive confusion was met by a booming, deep voice of...Heimdall? Wait how's that possible? Am I in Asgard? What is this? A prank?
"I saw you coming, Y/full name."
"Yes, yes, as you always do, without fail, Heimdall. Now may I request you to hasten the planned proceedings?" A dark figure in green clothings, Loki of course. Wait! Loki! Oh hell no! Oh, hell no! What is happeninggg???
I looked at his face and... he was clearly annoyed.
"Please quieten your mind, it's very, boisterous."
Oh right, he can read my thought. He can read my thoughts!
"Only if I want to, which to say, I won't ever dare again." He rolled his eyes.
Oh so cheeky. I was beginning to dislike him.
"We shall leave this war for another. An important matter is to be attended to. Lady Y/N, may I request you to grace these clothing?" Two women entered the Bifrost's chamber, each holding a plate of royal gowns and accessories.
"I... I am not sure if I am supposed to be here, you know? I mean I respect you, Asgard and all, but I'm just a mid-gardian, I... I don't belong, I suppose."
"Oh what a complete waste of time." Loki exasperated, needlessly.
I could hate him later; right now, I need to get back home. I looked back at Heimdall, he simply smiled and nodded. They don't waste around words. Except Loki, he had to exclaim every damn thought.
I sheepishly change and am met by an appraising nod of Heimdall.
"You will now be led to be presented in front of Odin, King of Asgard."
My steps fell silent, my mind erased it's existence. Odin hates mortals. Fleeting lives and whatever. He would throw me back to my house. I want that, but not in this manner, it would be humiliating. And there was this chance if me being thrown in a lock-up. Rare, but plausible.
"Go on now. Loki, see to her. Take care of her. Her existence is delicate to the sincere balance of the Nine Realms." He was stern and absolute of his words.
Here goes everything.
