A warm, empty bed in Loki's chamber greets me when I open my eyes. The pillows and blankets are soft and fluffy as ever. There is no sign of Loki around, but his fragrance lingers. He uses a strong, eucalyptus like fragrance and it stays on you like anything. I hear some footsteps from outside, I wanted to straighten up, but was too deeply inside the bed to move. I probably wasn't even visible.

"Brother you have to stop this madness!" I hear Thor's voice, loud and clear.

I closed my eyes and tapped into my magic reserve to see the room in my mind, to see the scene unfold. Loki was striding ahead of Thor, and Thor chased him around.

"I have made it clear. What you ask of me cannot be done."

"Loki, think again. You are always pushing away people, don't do this all over again. Last time you did that..."

"Enough! I shall not entertain your idle banter any longer. Go away brother, enjoy your celebration." Loki wipes the underside of his eyes with a hooked finger, later smudging it with his thumbs.

"Brother....you don't have to hurt y/n."

My eyes opened wide at my name, dissolving the visual I was getting. What does Thor mean??? Loki was trying to hurt me, on purpose??? Well this couldn't have been more awkward. Yet this news does not clear any confusion, it only adds to my dilemma.

"Oh y/n." Loki exclaimed my name with such a heart-broken spirit that I almost felt bad for him. Almost. Whatever he had endured, has something to do with someone like me. Maybe he pushed away another person like me and the consequences were too heavy for him to bear. Anyway, I was now looking for a way to leave the room without letting him know, lest he comes to know that I've overheard his conversation with Thor and actually throw me away from Asgard. I had come to like this place, it felt like home. For the first time, I was close to learn the true meaning of the phrase, 'Home sweet home'.

I could hear Loki's footsteps shuffling around my bed. I could pretend I was sleeping, and that I couldn't hear a thing. He probably knows I'm in here because, well, our connection doesn't leave much to hide. Choosing that as the apt course of action, I closed my eyes and stealthily relaxed into the covers, taking deep breaths like I'm asleep. Loki sits on the loveseat by the bed, looking out of the window, I'm guessing.

After what feels like an hour, I move slowly, indicating the break of my slumber to Loki, if he was still around. I lift my arms and move the covers from above me, taking in a loud breath, exhaling with a satisfactory sigh. A dull ache came from my stomach. I placed a hand there from the inside of my shirt to find most of it has been healed, just a little bit of left-over pain was there, which was probably my brain's response to the wound that should've been there.

"Awake, are you now?" Loki's solemn voice startles me, even though I half-expected him there.

"Uh-um yes." I stutter my words out. I really hope he buys my decoy.

"Well Thor and I missed your voice in our conversation."

My blood ran cold. He knows I was awake. I could still deny it, he wouldn't say anything.

"What conversation?" I was probably sounding stupid, my voice shrill with fear.

Loki smiled softly, mock defeat scribbled on his face. He knows, and he knows fully. He isn't going to say anything. I study him, not that it could make any difference now. He clasped his hands together, looked out of the window and let out a defeated sigh. He peered out of the windows, the weather a dark hue, indicating the oncoming rain. He sighed again, gave the softest of the smiles. Adjusting his hands, he looked at them. Cradling them together, reading them as if he could find what to say next written on them. Loki raised his eyes to look at me, with an expression that I didn't expect. Tears.

"Once upon a time, a lonely God met a woman. A woman unlike any other. Her strength and valor were tales to be told for generations to come. She inspired the very soil she set foot upon, leaving prosperity in her wake. She was loved by everyone. Even the God took a liking to her." A nostalgic smile spread on his face. He really must've loved her. Loki needn't say, but it was obvious he was talking about himself.

"But," his expression grim now, "He couldn't afford that. He couldn't bear to look at her. It made him feel inadequate. Like he doesn't deserve her. Like she doesn't deserve him. He pushed her away. Not wanting anything to do with her, tried hurting her, yet his longing for her only grew."

This sounded eerily similar to our situation here. Though, I was sad, upon hearing Loki had his heart set upon another Goddess. I mean that was obvious, but I kinda wanted him for myself. Not that I liked him but the prospect still made me uncomfortable.

"So, in his pursuit of pushing her away, he took her to a planet and left her to rule alone. Rule an entire planet, on the promise he'll meet her again, fully knowing he never will. Some centuries down the line, she finally accepted his absence. She did that by...by sacrificing her life. She cursed her own people, leaving them devoid of rain and hope. Since then that beautiful planet has succumbed to miseries and craftiness. The beautiful humans turned into hideous monsters, because that was the sole way to survive. Only he can lift the curse but he cannot do so alone. She has to return too. Only the two of them together can restore that place."

Wow, that sounded intense. I mean she must've been a really powerful Goddess to be able to conjure that a level of destruction. I was fascinated by her. Yet I also felt jealous of her. She was, in a way, destined to be with Loki. To spend her days with his charming smile and silver tongue. Uuughhhhh! Why am I jealous?! I hate Loki! Yet I want to stay close to him. I can't stand Loki! Yet I want to sit with him.

Loki continued talking about her and her people, her planet, never once giving a name.

"Her planet, Yaana. Her people, Sedhs."

My breath stopped short. They were the same creatures who had attacked me. But why? The question still remained. Loki read my mind and gave the answer. The answer that stopped time around me.

"Because darling, her name is Y/N."
