Part 12: I Want to Break Free! (Sunday)

The next day I woke up early. After my morning run, I took a shower and changed to a dark blue knee-length dress with buttons in front from top to bottom. I had no idea when Adam's father would pick him up, but if I got to meet him and I wanted to be ready for that. I braided my hair, applied light makeup, and ran downstairs to the kitchen.

I quickly prepared some smoked salmon sandwiches, packed them in a basket with some yogurts, fruits, juice, and coffee, and made my way to the pack prison to see Adam. I didn't know what he liked for breakfast, so I just brought everything I would usually eat.

He was still sleeping when I got there. I was glad he got at least some sleep in that uncomfortably looking cell. I immediately noticed his face was actually looking much better than it did the day before, which was expected as shifters healed much faster than humans.

I told the guard to open the cell, but he was reluctant at first. After much convincing that we couldn't escape because the prison was so well guarded and telling him that he could actually lock me in Adam's cell while I was there, he finally agreed to the latter option.

After locking me in, the guard moved towards elevators down the hall, so we could have some privacy. However, I knew he could still hear us, and I was sure he would tell my dad immediately if we planned anything against my dad's orders.

I sat down on Adam's bed and stroke his hair. He looked so peaceful when he slept, and I couldn't help but take my time to stare at his handsome features. I touched his dark eyebrows, slid my finger down his straight nose, touched an almost healed cut on his chick, and brushed the tip of my index finger on his lips.

He slowly woke up against my touch. He opened his eyes, looked at me, and closed them again. When he opened them again, he smiled at me. "I thought I was only dreaming," he said softly. I lay down next to him, so I was facing him. "Sorry to wake you up, but I didn't know how much time we had before your father comes to get you. How are you feeling? Does it still hurt?" "No, it's much better, thanks. How did you get in?" "I have my connections," I chuckled.

He smiled, and then he grew quiet, just looking at me for a while. He brushed his fingers on the side of my face, then he looked down, touching his mark on my neck lightly. He looked happy when he saw it on me. When I looked in the mirror that morning, I saw it had already healed, and now it looked like two small healed dents on my neck. It was another proof of our bond, something mated wolfs wore with pride.

"You look so pretty today. I mean, you look pretty every day, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I am really lucky to have you as my mate," he said, looking up in my eyes again. "You are too sweet. I am the lucky one. I was acting so silly last week. I can't believe I wanted to actually break our bond. I'm so sorry about that. I thought I was doing the right thing at that time, but I am so glad I didn't go through with it. I want to be with you more than anything," I told him everything that was on my mind lately when the past two weeks kept replaying in front of my eyes almost every night. "I am sorry too. I did things to hurt you," he smiled at me sadly.

I closed my eyes for a moment. It still hurt when I remembered him kissing another girl. But I knew he had his reasons, so I did my best to put that in the past.

Finally, I opened my eyes and said: "What matters is that we are together now." "That's all I ever wanted from the first day I saw you," he said, pulled me closer to him, and rested his forehead on mine. I brushed my fingers again on his cheek, and he stroked my braided hair.

"You do realize we are in jail, right? We can't make out here, you know?" I said jokingly. "Why not? What are they going to do, lock us up?" We both laughed at that. "Come on, I made us breakfast," I said and tried to pull him up. "Really? That is so nice of you!" "Wait, don't be too happy about it yet; maybe I made a really crappy breakfast," I teased him. He laughed at that and said: "I doubt it. Anything from you will be great."
