Part 22: Birthday Party #1

Adam's party was held on his parent's property. Besides all of Knight's Blood members, my parents and about ten highest-ranking wolfs from my pack, and two of Alpha Christian's closest allies with some of their men were invited.

I knew the party was more of a diplomatic affair than a party for Adam, so I wore a slightly more formal black knee-length tailored dress with a big magenta pink ribbon around my waist. My hair was up in a tight bun, and I put on some eyeliner and lipstick in the same shade as the ribbon, which was a lot more makeup than I usually wore.

I arrived with my parents and other pack members early to help with the last minutes of preparations. I looked around, and when I spotted Adam, he was just standing there in the middle of it all, as if he had just stopped whatever he was doing before and stared at me intently. I started making my way toward him, surely with a concerned look on my face. When he finally snapped out of it and met me halfway, he shook his head, hugged me, and whispered in my ear: "You look so beautiful tonight."

I had to admit he looked very nice too. He was wearing black slacks with a white shirt. It looked kind of formal, but without a tie. His hair was styled to one side with a fresh undercut. He smelled very nice too, and I really liked the mix of his scent and the cologne he was wearing.

"You are not bad either," I replied to him teasingly. He tickled my waist and grinned playfully at me. We went over to other friends from our school and stayed with them for a while. Later, Alpha Christian reminded Adam to go and mingle with other pack members. I went with him as it was a good opportunity to meet those I haven't met before. Most of them were talking about our new alliance and seemed to be taking the fact we were mates quite well, which was surprising considering how long both packs were sworn enemies. I

 suppose the prospect of super pups really appealed to them as I heard that comment in one form or other many times that evening. I just smiled or nodded at that, trying to get used to it. I guess I will want to have pups one day, but it was really too early for me to even think about that. I was glad that Adam shared my feelings about it, and we made sure we used protection.

When Alpha Dominic arrived, we went over immediately to greet him. I was surprised at how much he resembled Alpha Christian. Physically he looked different, but they had the same cold demeanor. When I introduced myself, he didn't smile or try to make a conversation with me. Alpha Christian then introduced him to my parents, and the three Alphas kept talking on the side for a long time.

There was some really nice finger food being passed around and a wide array of wine and soft drinks. I took a chance to eat something while everyone else was talking among themselves.

It was already late when Alpha Henry arrived. He was the complete opposite of Alpha Dominic. He laughed with a booming voice, so people usually heard him before they saw him. He talked a lot and joked with everyone.

When Adam and I came over to introduce ourselves, he looked at me slowly from top to bottom and back up again. It made me feel very uncomfortable, and I was sure Adam noticed as well as he tensed by my side and pulled me even closer to him. "So you are the one who is responsible for all this commotion?" he said to me and let out a booming laugh. I had no idea what I was supposed to answer to that, so I just smiled and said: "Yes, I'm the one." Adam added: "Well, somehow I'm involved too." Alpha Henry laughed so hard that I thought he was going to explode. "Alright, pups, we will see what we can do about this," he said and went to join our fathers and Alpha Dominic at their table.

We went back to mingle around, and we ended up at our friends' table again. We listened intently to Hugh and Lee's stories about their student exchange at a pack in Italy last summer. It was hilarious to hear all the mispronunciations of Hugh's name.
