Part 36: Epilogue

By the end of the school year, our parents helped us generously build a house by the lake between both packs. It was close to the spot Adam and I first made love, which was our little secret that nobody else knew about.

Both of our parents were Alphas which meant they were pretty well off, so building a house for us was not a big expense for them. Adam received his title and took over his pack in July. That was also the time he should become independent from his parents, so moving into his own home was expected. Me moving in with him felt natural, and it was what we both eagerly waited for.

After my shoulder healed, we spent most of the time either at his parent's house or mine, not really asking for permission to see each other anymore. I think toward the end of the school year, both of our parents already couldn't wait to get rid of us.

The house itself was stunning and conveniently located about a twenty-minute drive from each packs' headquarters. It had an amazing lake view, and we made a once wild lakefront into a beach-like area. We had a nice terrace in front so we could dine out whenever the weather was warm enough and it wasn't raining.

The house itself wasn't too big, but it had a few guest rooms we could use if someone stayed over. It was built in a rustic style, but it had all the modern equipment we needed. We both had our own offices we could use for our pack business.

We both agreed we wouldn't keep any secrets from each other about our packs or anything else. We were thinking of merging both packs someday anyway. If not earlier, that would probably happen when our pups came of age. We both wanted them eventually, but we both thought it was too early for that now. We were too busy with pack matters and with each other too. We were aware we would be busy with kids once we had them, so we decided to wait a few years.

We attended Adam's graduation in June, and I was surprised to learn he graduated with honors. I had never seen him study, and when I asked him about it, he only grinned and said he studied whenever he wasn't with me. It was still a mystery to me since we were always together. He must have been waking up early, or he had really used any single minute I was away, and he wasn't working with his father on pack matters. In any case, it had motivated me to try harder at school as well.

Adam's pack lost a lot of men in the battle with Henry, and his pack's strength reduced considerably after that. My pack helped by dispatching some men for patrolling their borders, but it would take at least 5 years to even start recovering their numbers.

I talked to Alpha Christian and Adam and told them how our pack uses females as trackers and even fighters, among other functions. If they trained their women, their numbers increased significantly.

They opposed the idea initially, telling me their women liked to stay home and enjoy being well protected. I told them that they can at least try to ask around if any of them was interested in signing up for training.

Alpha Christian and Adam tried to argue they are not strong enough, but soon they realized that they can't really say that to me. I told them about other women from my pack who were great at what they do, so in the end, they said they could give it a try, but they didn't expect many to come forward.

However, they were in for a big surprise when almost half of them applied for training. Especially the younger ones, those I knew from school, wanted to start as soon as possible. Of course, they all had to begin with the basics, but it was a start, and I was glad to see it.

Adam admitted in the end that I was an inspiration for many of them. Many of the small girls now had a dream to become a strong fighter, just as their new Luna. I had to laugh at that, but it actually made me happy even if I wasn't too fond of the title Luna. I preferred to be called Alpha, but I tried to let it go most of the time in informal situations as I knew they meant well.
