Chapter 14: The Death Song of Odette Parker

A/N: Chapter is shorter than normal... I didn't see the need to drag out the plan

Fury arrives at Stark Tower at 8:00AM. He calls an emergency meeting. The team gathers in the living room in the penthouse.

Fury: "We have new intelligence in regard to your past Odette. At this time I am not at liberty to share it with anyone. I will need you to come with me to DC"

Steve and Nat don't look worried. They think this is part of the plan.

Tony: "What do you mean 'You're not at liberty to share?' What does that even mean Fury?"

Fury: "It means that this matter goes deeper than we think. I need Odette in DC today, with me. Go upstairs and pack a weekend bag."

Bruce: "Is she safe?"

Fury: "She will be."

Odette: "Don't worry guys. I'm sure everything is going to be fine. It's just a weekend trip."

Fury: "Meet me at the launchpad in an hour."

Tony and Bruce's anxiety is making me itchy. I stand up and head back to my room.

Steve follows behind me. Once we get inside he watches me pack. I grab George because I will never leave him behind.

Steve: "I need you to promise that you will check in with me as soon as you land. I need to know your safe."

Odette: "I promise Steve."

I finish packing up the things I am going to need. Steve pulls me into a bear hug. I swallow back my tears. If I cry he is going to know something is up. He grabs my face and kisses me gently.

Steve: "Just come back to me."

Odette: "It's not forever, remember?"

Steve: "So the plan is for you to land and be on your way to a safe house when the car is ambushed correct?"

Odette: "That's it, I am going to be confirmed dead from injuries at the hospital. Fury will be the one to confirm it."

Steve: "I hope this ends quickly."

Odette: "Me too! All right go, I need to activate the kill code in Jarvis."

Steve: "I'll meet you at the launch pad."

Steve leaves the room. I sit down on my bed and drop my head in my hands. Please forgive me.

I prep and finish a whole before beginning the kill code procedure.

Odette: "Jarvis"

Jarvis: "Yes, Odette"

Odette: "Please back up Odette Parker files to Ghost Drive Devochka"

Jarvis: "Pass code required"

Odette: "Phoenix-21512"

Jarvis: "Pass code accepted - all files have been removed and stored on back up server."

Odette: "Jarvis" A single tear rolls down my cheek "Kill code initiate-death song"

Jarvis: "Pass code required"

Odette: "devochka-21594"

Jarvis: "Pass code accepted"

Odette: "Goodbye Jarvis"

Jarvis: "Voice recognition rejected"

I grab my luggage and walk up to the launch pad. Everyone is there. Nat gives me a huge hug and kisses me goodbye. That earns a look from everyone except Steve.
