Chapter 51: Birth Parents

A/N: Lot's of dialogue in this chapter, it reads quick even though it seems long.

Riding to New York was a blast. I convinced Bucky to let go for a bit and we raced through the highway. Our reflexes are faster than a normal persons, so our response time is amazing. We made it to New York in 3 1/2 hours. I had LIL O run a scan and Officer Bill was on duty today. I called the main line and asked if I could be connected to him. They told me he was out of the office.

We stop in to a coffee shop and I have LIL O do a scan to see if we can find him. He was currently at the hospital. Riding over to the hospital I tried to work out exactly how I was going to get the DNA from him. We pull up outside and walk in to the emergency room, he came in through here about 20 minutes ago and hasn't left. I walk up to the station and ask if they can direct me to him. A nurse tells me he is waiting outside of room on the third floor. I turned around and bumped into another nurse. When I looked up I saw my mom.

Dets: "Mom... I mean, ma'am. I am so sorry."

Mom: "It's OK dear, I wasn't looking where I was going."

Dets: "You need eyes in the back of your head in New York right?"

She stalls for a second then smiles.

Mom: "My daughter used to say that."

Bucky tugs on my arm.

Dets: "Sorry again. Have a good day."

As I walk away I feel the tears start to form. Bucky pulls me into the hallway and wraps me in a hug. I sob into his chest.

Dets: "All I wanted to do was drop my illusion and hug her."

Bucky: "I know baby. Fitz is still out there. Wait, we're being followed."

Dets: "What?"

Bucky grabs me and lifts me into his arm, charging up three flights of stairs in a matter of moments. He puts his hand over my mouth and points to his ear. He is listening, thanks to the echo I can hear it too.

Agent: "They came into the hallway after speaking to Ms. Parker. I followed but I lost them. It didn't seem like a threat. I think I heard the girl say mom - but then said ma'am. Let's add another set of eyes on Ms. Parker. Hydra has never used woman before but I wouldn't put anything past them."

The door opens and closes again. Bucky removes his hand from my mouth.

Bucky: "Well, at least we know they are actually watching out for your family."

Dets: "I can't believe I saw her Bucky, its been over 2 years since I've been that close to her. She smells the same. She looks tired but happy. I just wanted to hug her one more time."

Bucky: "You are going to be able to do that as soon as we eliminate the threat against you."

Dets: "I know. Lets go find officer Bill."

We go down a flight of stairs since Bucky ran us up to level 4. We exit and Officer Bill is sitting outside a room with a note pad in his hand.

Dets: "Fuck, my anxiety is at like a 30 right now."

Bucky: "Do you want me to talk to him?"

Dets: "No this needs to be me."

I drop my illusion and walk up to him. I cover my my head with my hood.

Dets: "Officer Bill?"

Bill: "It's detective now." He looks up from his lap and his eyes go wide. "Sarah?"
