Unexpected Love

Chapter 34

El's POV 

This is going to sound a little crazy but I was currently drowning. Yep you heard that right. You know the whole thing where water is filling up your lungs and you are dying. Yeah that was currently happening to me. 

You may be wondering... "Why?" Well let me tell you. It's the asshole I call a boyfriends fault. He was currently dying on me  and in order to save him I have to find Jace. The weird vision of runes I've been having happened while I was trying to track Jace and it prompted me to open a portal. 

Right in this fricking water 

Finally seeing shore I collapsed on the sand coughing up the water before turning to look around. I couldn't see much but in the distance I saw two figures lying in the sand. Getting up I walked as fast as you can in sand seeing an unconscious Jace and a woman I didn't know who unfortunately looked dead

"Jace!" I say my throat still feeling raw from coughing up the salty water. Shaking his shoulder he blinked a few times looking around confused. "Clary?" He says and I shake my head. "I haven't seen her was she with you?" I said a new pit of fear forming in my stomach. "yeah we jumped off the boat together- Gretel?" He cuts himself off as he sees the woman trying to shake her awake but has no luck

Shaking his head he sighs. "Hey! What's going on?" A new voice yelled and a mundane walks forward and her eyes widened as she sees the dead body we were currently in hovering above. "Hey, wait." Jace starts and I shake my head. "This isn't what you think" I said standing up and the mundane shakes their head stepping back with fear in their eyes

"Someone call the police!" They yell and I quickly grabbed Jace's arm even as he tried to stutter out words and ran. "We are so screwed" I said and he pulls his arm back once we make it into a dark alley. " How'd you find me?" He said and I shrug 

"Don't exactly know but we need to get back to the institute even though you have a kill order to your name" I said and he steps back. "Woah Elizabeth what do you mean and why do we have to go to the institute?" He said and I laugh pushing him back against the stone wall extending the whip and making it into a staff like Izzy taught me holding it to his throat

"Because Alec is dying and did something stupid that my mom planted in his head. You're the only person that can save him. Do you know how stupid you are? Going after Valentine? He was worried sick! We all were!" I said and he nods 

"The wolves. They're gonna track us. They think we killed her" Jace said as he tilts his head in the direction that the Gretel lady was 

"Well we're just going to have to get to the institue quicker then."

"This isn't time for a drink" I tell Jace and he rolls his eyes. "I'm trying to get a phone to contact Izzy" He said and I groaned. "I'm going to scout the area to make sure there are no shadow hunters around to kill you or me" I said as I felt the bracelet around my wrist cackle with energy at the thought of a threat

"Be quick and don't do anything dumb" I said and he mock salutes me before entering the bar as I began walking across the blocks. After around fifteen minutes making sure everything was okay I walked back to the bar to see that Jace was missing along with most of the people that were inside. 

"You've got to be shitting me" I groaned

After searching for Jace for a good hour and not having any luck I resulted to the last thing I could think of. I stole a phone from a mundane who was distracted and quickly dialed Izzy's number 

"Hello?" 

"Iz it's me" 

"El! Where are you and Jace?" She asks and I sigh 

"I lost him and I need your help because I don't have a stele to track him through my rune" I said 

"I'm trying to get Aldertree to approve a mission for me to find Jace and bring him in. I'll meet you where you are okay don't move" She says and I nod before realizing she can't see me but before I open my mouth she beats me to it 

"I already know you were nodding along to me see you in a few" She chuckles before hanging up and I place the phone back in the mundanes purse who was still distracted surprisingly before waiting for Izzy 

After about half an hour Izzy meets up with me and I hug her before looking at her with knowing eyes. "How is he?" I ask and she sighs shaking her head. "We have to get Jace. Alec is unresponsive to everything. He is dying and Jace is about to get murdered by Maia as Luke kindly had to bring up" She says as a warlock pulls up and opens a portal for her 

"Ready? He is going to be in trouble" Izzy warns and I smirk letting the whip slide down my hand as Izzy did the same before we walked through the portal 

Quickly throwing me whip ahead of me as I see a big wolf who I assume is Maia lunge at Jace, it wraps around her throat and I yank back making her whimper. "Stay." Izzy orders making her growl but I tug a little harder making her lay down 

"Good doggy" I smirk before looking at Jace. "Thanks guys" He says and I shake my head. "Don't thank us yet" I said

When we had gotten to Magnus's apartment where they had moved Alec, Aldertree was waiting and forcefully pulled me aside. "Let me go! I need to make sure Alec is okay!" I basically scream and he glares at me. 

"You disrespected a direct order from me Elizabeth I expect for you to not do it again" He says and I clench my jaw 

"Go to hell" I said and he finally lets go of my arm. "You were let off easy this time. Next time I won't be so nice" He said and I glared at him again before walking into the balcony to see Alec resting his head weakly against Jace's arms as Jace held him tightly 

"Alec!" I cried out as I ran to his side and he detangled himself from Jace as I threw my arms around him hugging him tightly. "Hey love" He whispers softly but the moment is quickly ruined when Aldertree walked in 

Izzy, Jace, Magnus, and I shared a knowing look as we knew what would happen 

"Jace Wayland! You are hereby sentenced to the City of Bones to await trial for the charge of high treason and aiding Valentine in the war against the Clave."
