Elizabeth's POV
I made it to the coordinates Valentine had sent me. It was a field filled with sunflowers. Something representing happiness which was the opposite of Valentine

"Ah you made you it finally" His voice rings out behind me and I whip around to see him standing there with a smirk with a warlock standing behind me

"Where's Max?" I ask and he chuckled. "I didn't say I would give him to you now. I just wanted to see you face to face again. There a few things you need to do first before I return the little boy" he said and I glare at him

"What do you want?" I ask and he smiled. "For starters I want you to break up with that boyfriend of yours" he says and I shake my head

"No absolutely not"

Not after everything Alec and I had been through to finally be together. "It's that or I kill him and his younger brother" Valentine says and I sigh

"Fine what else" I ask and he smirks. "I want you to then meet me back here and join me in return for Max. Also you can't tell anyone about this or I'll kill him"

I close my eyes. "Fine just don't hurt him" I whisper and I heard a portal opening before he disappeared

Walking back to the institute with shaky legs I sigh before opening the institute doors and
I could immediately do it Alec who was sitting down next to Magnus and Izzy with a shaky leg as he had an impatient look on his face

Shit Magnus was here I forgot. Alec knows I lied

Holding back my tears I walked to him and he stood up giving me a confused look. "Where'd you go? Why'd you lie?" He asks and I look down feeling the tears brew in my eyes

"Can I talk to you in private please?" I asked and his face hardened. "Whatever you have to say you can say in front of Izzy and Magnus" he says and I shake my head

"No I can't Alec please" I said and he shook his head. "Just say it El" he says and I sigh feeling a tear slip before wiping it away and looking Alec in his eyes

"Alec I-I'm breaking up with you" I said and his eyes widened as a hurt look spread across his face

"You're joking right Liz?" Izzy asks and Magnus stood there with shock as Ex stumbled back a little

"N-no you don't mean that" he whispers and I bit my lip as I prevented a son from breaking out

"Goodbye Alexander" I whispered and he fell to his knees taking my hands. "El no please you can't leave me. Please I can fix whatever I did wrong just please" he begged and I went down on my knees wiping his tears away as I kissed his forehead

"I'm sorry but I have to do this" I whispered again before standing up and walking out the institute doors as I choked out a sob

My heart was breaking into pieces and I couldn't breathe properly. In all my eighteen years of living I had never gone through something so painful even losing mom

I picked up my phone dialing the number that was recent. After just two rings it was picked up

"It's done I'm coming for Max" I said before hanging up and beginning to walk back to the sunflower field

Maybe then I could feel a bit of happiness in this world of hurt I just put myself in

Alec's POV
I sobbed as she walked away from me and I felt my chest tightening more and more. "Big brother it's okay" Izzy said sitting on the floor next to me cradling my head to her shoulder
