Unexpected Love

Chapter 17

Elizabeth's POV
"You had to talk to me about something?" I asked Jace as I lean on his bedroom door. "It's about Alec" he says and I roll my eyes

"Then no offense I don't want to hear it" I said but Jace shakes his head. "He's not happy Liz. I can feel it and I know he likes you not her!" He says and I shrug

"It's too late now Jace I'm sorry" I say softly as I walk away heading to Izzy's room. On my way there all I could feel was the stinging sensation in my chest thinking about Alec

This was why I shouldn't have wasted my time thinking someone could actually love me back for once

I felt the sadness and anger rushing up to me once more as I half and punch the wall in frustration

"Dammit" I cried shaking my fist as I felt tears well up in my eyes and a new pain forming in my hand distracting me from everything else

"Elizabeth!" I heard a worried voice and I looked up to see Alec walking towards me. "Stop just stop!" I said holding my other hand up and he halts completely

"El let me see your hand. You're hurt" he says and I fake a smile. "You hurt me more" I say before walking pass him making sure to not touch him at all and walking to Izzy's room

Before I can though he grabs my hand and pushed me against the wall gently and using his body to keep me pinned

My breathing hitched as he looked down at me with his green hazel eyes. "Let go of me" I managed to say as I try to push him away

"El please I just want to talk" he says and I shake my head. "No! Please just leave me alone" I said and he frowns as he nods slowly backing away and letting me walk away

The minute I entered Izzy's room she closed the door and told me a very interesting plan she had

"So let me get this straight. You need Alec's stele to open the safe, and you want me to steal it from him?" I asked Izzy and Jace

"We prefer the word borrow without his knowledge you know?"

"No absolutely not." I said sitting down in Izzy's chair crossing my arms. I had drawn an iratze for my hand by now

"Liz ever since Alec found out our parents were in the circle he's been messed up and he can't see the big picture. If the clave is willing to subject Meliorn to the silent brothers, if they're willing to go this far what do you think will happen if they get the cup?"

"Please help us Liz"

I sigh getting up. "You both owe me for this" I said getting up as Izzy squeals. "Thank you for this" she whispers as she hugs me

"Off to my doom" I mumble as I head to Alec's office. Not bothering to knock I open the door a bit spotting his stele inside his jacket

I also saw him without a shirt tending his wound. But oh by the angel the sight of chest could make anyone swoon

I entered his office closing the door behind me and he quickly looks up fixing his shirt. "El you're here" he says and I nod

"You said you wanted to talk. Also I thought you said your forsaken wound didn't hurt" I said pointing to his covered arm

"I'm fine I care more about you" he says and I walk over to him inching my way towards his jacket.

"What is it you wanted to talk about" I asked and he sighs. "El I really like you I swear. I have never felt this way about anyone. Y-you make me so happy and I don't want to lose you" he says and I scoff

"Then why are you marrying Lydia?" I ask and he sighs. "I have to restore my family's name El. My parents ruined it being in the circle" he says and I throw my hands in the air in exasperation

"That isn't your responsibility Alec!" I said and he runs his hands through his hair. "Yes it is El!"

"What about your happiness? What about what you want Alec?" I say and he sighs. "It doesn't matter what I want or my happiness. It matters that I fulfill my duty to my family" he says and I sigh

"Then what we have is going to be gone forever Alec" I said and he shakes his head. "My feelings for you will never go away" he whispers and I stand in front of him glancing down at his jacket with his stele poking out

I was really going to regret this

"One last kiss?" I whispered and he looks down at me with sad eyes as he raised his hand to stroke my cheek

He leans down pressing his lips softly against mine. I melted into the kiss knowing this was going to probably be the last time I got to do this

My hands quickly fumbling around I find his stele placing it in my back pocket before my hands found their way to his shirt fisting it and pulling him closer

He turns us around as he gently picks me up and places me on his desk before stepping between my legs and pulling me up against him

I didn't want this moment to end

His hand stayed on my waist as the other one stayed on the back of my neck almost as if he was making sure I wouldn't pull away

My own hands were entangled in his soft raven hair and by the time we pulled away were both panting for air

I quickly got off his desk as I sent him a sad smile. "Goodbye Alexander" I whispered as I closed his office door once more and traced my lips where I could still feel his touch

I wanted to cry again but I forced the tears back as I walked to Izzy's room who looked at me with a hopeful look

"Here you guys go. I'll be back" I say giving her the stele before walking out the room and making my way to the front of the institute

I walked out the grand doors as I sat on the institute steps needing the fresh air

Life was pretty cruel sometimes
