Unexpected Love

Chapter 3

Elizabeth's POV

"Yeah this place isn't creepy. Not at all." Simon says as we walk towards the entrance of the silent brothers.

Mom didn't tell me much about the silent brothers but from what I knew they were pretty creepy

"Don't tell me your afraid" Isabelle teases running her finger across his arm.

"Are you kidding me? I was born afraid...... Which sounded a lot better in my head" Simon says shaking his head

"Let's check it out" I say growing sightly impatient as Jace hold his hand up

"Wait here a minute. I wanna see if it's safe" Jace say walking ahead with Alec following him

"Why are we doing this? We don't even know these people!" Alec says and I roll my eyes

"Hey." Jace says with a fierce edge in his tone and warning eyes.

"If something goes wrong, if something happens to her, that's on us.... You know that don't you?" Alec says

Jace rolls his eyes before responding. "Yeah." He sighs

"And you know exactly what'd happen if Valentine gets the cup before we do"   He continues

"She's lost everything Alec. I know exactly what that feels like" Jace says.

I feel a pang of hurt in my chest. Of course it was about Clary. She lost everyone. Not like I didn't lose anyone. Plus she still had me

"And what's your problem with her anyways? Your family always used to welcome strays" Jace says and Alec sends him a pointed look

"You were never a stray" he says and Jace runs a hand through his hair. "The point is, nothing's changed. We're in this fight together. There's just one more of us" he says and Alec looks my direction as I stare at the ground.

"Two actually" he mumbles.

I take a deep breath turning to Isabelle. "I am going to take a quick walk I will be back in a few." I mumble and walk off not bothering to listen to her response

I walk back to the truck leaning against it as I fidgeted with the ring resting on my finger. I wish mom had told me about Clary's memories. I wish she told Clary about the shadow world. I wish everyone would actually stop worrying about Clary and actually wonder if I was alright. If maybe I was sad and mad that my mother was taken

I kick the dirt before returning back to the others reluctantly. I had to be there for Clary

I made a promise to mom which I intend on keeping.

"By all means go ahead" I hear Alec says who uses his hands for effect.
Jace then continues.

"Of course the minute you enter. You'll die" He says to Simon and I roll my eyes as Simon stands his ground

"Problem is now I don't trust you" he says and Alec rolls his eyes this time. "He's not lying" he mumbles

"Now. He was before" Isabelle states sending him a smile. "The rune energy in City of Bones will kill any mundane who dares to enter. So please" Alec says motioning to the opening

I chuckle at that as Isabelle speaks up again. "The brothers creep me out. I'll mind the mundane" she says grabbing ahold of Simons arm

Jace cracks a smile at her. "Your sacrifice is noted Izzy" he says and Simon sighs.

"Talk about sacrifices. I'm missing a financial analysis class" he says

"I can't be here anymore,so, Jace I'm gonna mind the perimeter" Alec says before walking off.
