Unexpected Love

Chapter 31

Elizabeth's POV
Closing my eyes I tried my best to pin point where Jace was but I couldn't and it was worse when Alec was looking at me with such hopeful eyes

I was about to give up when suddenly I gasped looking through Jace's eyes. He was chained up on the wall making my arms feel sore and I suddenly felt someone punch me straight in the face making my head whip to the side at the impact

Blow after blow was delivered and I cried out as water was splashed all over my open wounds.

"Elizabeth! Elizabeth come back!" Alec's distant voice snapped me back. I held back my tears as he wiped away blood from my face

"How- how did I start bleeding?" I ask and he shrugs. "I think this thing you do makes you feel others pain and emotions" he says before activating my iratze making me feel better

"H-he's been tortured" I whispered and Alec looks at me with saddened eyes before it turns to anger and his fist clenched

"Did you see anything that can help us locate him?" He asks and I shake my head. "Everything was dark all I could see and feel was the punches" I said

I felt really light headed for some reason. "God dammit Elizabeth! What's the point of using your ability to find him if you won't pay attention to your surroundings!" He says and I frown

"Alec I tried it was too-" I began to explain feeling rolls of nausea begin to appear in my body

"Elizabeth I need you to-" the rest of his sentence I couldn't really hear as a ringing began in my ears and I focused on his lips trying to make out the words before black dots spread throughout my body

I fought them as I blinked standing up a bit wobbly as I try to grab Alec's hand who was about to walk out my door before the darkness came over me and I fell to the floor with a thump

Alec's POV
Turning around quickly I see El's body sprawled out before me and I felt my anxiety grow in my chest as I fell to my knees quickly checking her pulse

Breathing out a sigh of relief as I felt her heart beat I scooped her up running to the infirmary. "Help I need some help in here!" I shouted but no one was there and I was beginning to panic

"Elizabeth! Elizabeth what happened?" Jocelyn says running up to her unconscious daughter. I gently laid her on one of the empty beds and Jocelyn sighs

"She used her ability didn't she?" She questions and I looked at her with narrowed eyes. "She did. Is that why she's knocked out?" I ask and she sits down on the chair next to Elizabeth

"Over the years I studied her ability. I erased her memory of it though so she didn't stress about it but I found out that it can happen to her without her realizing and it doesn't take a toll on her but one day I- I couldn't find Clary when she snuck out with Simon so I told her to use it. When she forced herself to do it she lasted a few minutes and when she snapped back to reality she passed out for two days. By the angel she had me worried sick" Jocelyn says

"Two days? She's going to be out for two days?" I ask and she shrugs. "I really don't understand too much about her gift or the toll it takes on her. She doesn't even understand it herself. I'm worried she'll push herself to a limit but I do know that when she forces herself to use this gift it has these consequences " Jocelyn says

I gripped Elizabeth's hand as I clenched my jaw. "She was trying to find Jace for me" I whispered softly

"Don't blame yourself she would've done it even if she knew this would happen. She's always been the person to put everyone else before herself"

"She sure as hell does and maybe it's the fact you made her put Clary before herself over all these years" a new voice comes in and Izzy walks in fuming

"What happened to her?" She says and I sigh. "She tried using her ability to track Jace and after that she passed out." I said and she looks at Jocelyn

"Oh Liz you can't do this now" she murmured as she smoothed back Elizabeth's hair taking a seat next to me

"I'll watch her big bro you go help Lydia try and find Jace"

"Thanks Iz keep me updated"

"Wait Alec can I talk to you? I think there might be a way to track Jace through you" Jocelyn says making me look at her suspiciously before motioning you continue
