You whimpered, reluctant to let go of the boy's hand.  Initially, your bestie Kenma was supposed to accompany you to your wisdom tooth removal surgery.  But after something came up, he asked his buddy Kuroo to fill in.  Even though you didn't know Mr. Bedhead, you couldn't bring yourself to part ways with him in the waiting room.

"It'll be over before you know it," the nurse tried to persuade you again.

That's what everyone had been telling you, but that didn't seem to take away your fear of needles, blood, and the combination of the two: surgeries.  Stuff like this freaked you out, and you really wished you could be anywhere but here.

You felt Kuroo give your hand a little squeeze, and he leaned down to whisper in your ear.  "I'll be out here waiting for you.  You can do this, Y/N."

Maybe it was his words.  Maybe it was his warm breath against your ear and his subtle cologne.  Taking a deep breath, you mustered the courage to let go of his hand.  He gave you a small wave and a reassuring smile as you followed the nurse out of the waiting room.  It all happened so fast–nurses bent over you with different devices.  One to measure your heart rate, one to prop your mouth open.  A sharp gasp left your lips as you felt the prick of the IV in your hand.

"You'll start to feel sleepy soon," one of the nurses told you, but you didn't have time to reply because the next thing you knew, she was helping you stand up.

Your head spun, and you tried to talk but you couldn't with the gauze stuffed in your mouth.  The world sloshed sideways as if you were trapped in a bottle of water.  You staggered into walls, straining against the nurse who was desperately trying to hold you up.

Still unable to process what was happening, you heard some of the nurses talking until one of them fetched a familiar face whose golden eyes widened at your disheveled state.

"Usually, we walk patients to the car, but the anesthesia is really taking it's time to wear off.  Do you mind helping us?"

Kuroo wrapped a strong arm around your waist and did his best to keep you afloat until you were safely in the passenger seat of his car.  He leaned over you, attempting to buckle your seatbelt when you looked him straight in the eye.

"Hey, you're hot," you giggled.

Kuroo knew this was the anesthesia speaking, but he was amused by your choice of words.  "I know," he winked.

The drive to his apartment was relatively quiet after that.  You kept falling in and out of naps, waking up every now and then to comment on how attractive the black-haired male was.  Now Kuroo was a confident man, but he couldn't help but blush at your blunt statements.  They made his cheeks go as red as his sweatshirt, and he wondered how you'd behave around him once the meds wore off.

He figured out really fast that your sense of balance must have been plucked out along with your wisdom teeth because you were still a stumbling mess.  So instead of helping you walk, he scooped you up in his arms and carried you bridal style to the living room where he propped you up on the sofa.

"I'm thirsty," you whined, pointing to your gauze-stuffed mouth.

Yeah you are, Kuroo thought to himself, but he took your hint and settled next to you with a bowl of water that he slowly fed you with a spoon.  He patiently tended to you all day as the wooziness wore off.  Now he was bent over a pot of soup he was making from scratch for you.  You'd fallen asleep, so he took the time to find a recipe he thought you'd like.  He poured some of the soup into a bowl and made his way back to the living room where you were still sound asleep.  He watched the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest.  Even the little string of drool dripping from the corner of your mouth made him smile.
