This was it. This was your biggest fear in life. Other people were afraid of sharks, clowns, snakes, and the mysterious bottom of the ocean. But nothing freaked you out more than giving a presentation in front of your whole class. It didn't matter if you were an extroverted, confident person outside of class. Once you were standing front and center of the room, anxiety you didn't know existed took hold of you.
And tomorrow morning, it would be your turn to present your creative project for the semester. You banged your head on your desk, drawing the attention of your nearby classmates. But you didn't care. It wasn't until you felt a firm hand on your shoulder did you look up and see your friend Daichi.
"Y/N, is something wrong?"
His deep voice was similar to a cup of hot chocolate–warm and soothing, and you smiled at him.
"You're not even in this class. What are you doing here?" you playfully pushed him away, but your hand came in contact with the hard muscle of his chest. Blushing, you pulled your arm away, and tried to focus on anything other than the fact that Daichi was an athlete.
"I had a small break before my next class, so I stopped by. What's bothering you?"
You gave him the rundown–how you'd have to talk about using art to tell stories and how it was worth a hefty percent of your grade. In other words, if you messed up tomorrow, you were doomed.
Daichi glanced at his watch, and shook his head. "I have to run to make it to my next class, but why don't you come over to my place tonight? We can talk and stress bake and figure your presentation out."
His offer comforted you, and you looked forward to hanging out with him and his roommates. Asahi and Suga were always a good time, and you adored the dynamic of the three boys. Suga and Asahi's banter in particular always left you in stitches.
You found Daichi at the front of the school after classes had ended for the day. Bending over, he stretched his sore muscles after what must have been a strenuous volleyball practice. However, he straightened himself out when he saw you, and you began the walk to his apartment.
He opened the door to his place and invited you in, but you were surprised by how quiet the space was. Usually Asahi was crying over a romance drama while Suga was making fun of him for bawling his eyes out. But today, you couldn't spot a single roommate.
"Oh, the other guys are having a sleepover at Tanaka's to hype up for the game this week," Daichi rubbed the back of his neck. "So it's just you and me."
Just you and me. It both excited you yet made you nervous. It'd been awhile since you've spent one-on-one time with Daichi. The last time that had happened, you felt like you were developing a crush. You hoped tonight wouldn't be a repeat.
The man told you to make yourself at home while he prepped some ingredients for cookies and ice cream sundaes. Soon enough, you both were laughing in the kitchen while trying to properly measure ingredients. There was flour on your face and in Daichi's hair, but eventually, the cookies were baked, and you sat next to each other with your sundaes.
"So, tell me about this project. Why are you so nervous? Art is your thing, no?"
As you shoved a spoonful of chocolate ice cream into your mouth, you tried to put a finger on your feelings.
"I'm scared because I love art so much, and I want to be able to clearly share my passion. I'm worried I'll stumble over my words, and all those eyes will be on me. I don't know if I'll have the guts to even make it past the first line of my presentation," you sighed.
