Natasha and Steve sit in silence, both half regretting their decision to kiss each other but at the same time, rejoicing at the fact that after all those years the other still felt something for them.
"Should we talk about what the kiss meant?" Steve is the first one to voice his thoughts and it turns out both of them were thinking the same thing.
Natasha sighs, sipping her coffee, enjoying another moment of silence before whispering, "No."
"No? Natasha. You know what this means right? We still have a thing for each other? We can make this work. It's not too late. You still love me."
"Steve, I'm married. We cant do this. And you, you have a girlfriend. Don't do this to her." Natasha protests, letting out a sigh.
"Do I care? No. I want you. And only you. It's always been you. I still love you Nat. Let's make this work, please" Steve begs, knowing that she feels the same but is too attached to agree.
She sighs and shakes her head. "Its too late for that and you know that."
"Do you not love me?" He raises his eyebrows at her, something she had always done to him. She wants to protest but she knows deep down the answer is that she still does.
"Steve please." She protests. She can't do this.
He smirks at her. "Answer me. Do you love me?"
Yes. Yes, she does. But she doesn't want to say it but she knows the answer in the back of her mind. But it's harmless right? Isn't it?
She sighs and looks up at him. "I never stopped loving you Steve. But I'm married to someone else. I can't do this. We can't do this."
"You can't or you won't." He retorts, the anger evident in his voice. He doesn't know why he's mad, he should have moved on a long time ago, or at least he thought he did. But apparently he didn't. He wanted her more than ever and it pained him to see her resist it. Breaking apart a married couple was the last thing on his mind, but she didn't seem happy with the other guy. Would she be happier with him?
She puts down her mug on the coffee table, standing up and walking towards her front door. He follows suit.
"Natasha, please." He's practically begging now. He's in pain, hurt by her and what he's been doing to himself. Bu this feel so right yet so wrong at the same time. It's confusing and anger is the only thing that will mask his pain. He can't take it any longer. He can't stand her married to someone else when he still loves her.
"You should leave." She says, glaring up at him before breathing out with a sigh and looking down.
"And do you really want me to?" His one last attempt to get her back.
"No, but you have to. I'm sorry." The tears forming in her eyes are evident as she swallows hard.
No. She said no, which meant that- She wanted it as much as he did. He looks at her, taking in all of her features, her red hair, her green eyes, her freckled nose, all of it. And his impulse takes control.
He grabs her by the waist and pulls her in, his lips touching hers. His eyes squeeze shut as he savors her in his mouth. To his surprise, she doesn't pull away and she intensifies the kiss, her fingers moving through his hair and gently tugging on them. She pulls away when she's out of breath and her pupils are slightly dilated, her lips parted, begging for more.
And that's all the cue he needs to shut and lock the front door and carry her up to the bedroom.
_
"Okay, the kiss may have been a mistake but that, that definitely wasn't it. That was amazing and beyond incredible." Natasha says with a sigh as she covers herself with the sheets, lying in bed sore from what they had been doing a few moments ago.
