Kokichis pov

I walked into school with my head down. My last encounter with shuichi had me all shaking up. I was scanning the area for him when I accidentally bumped into kaito.

"hey watch where your-kokichi?" kaito immediately dropped the tough guy act once he saw it was me.

"hey" I tried to smile but I just couldn't manage it.

"something wrong?" he asked.

"no everything's fine!" I said quickly.

"come on kid I can tell your not yourself so just tell me what's wrong" he sounded much gentler then usual. Maybe I can trust him with this. I was about to tell him when...

"kokichi" shuichi came out of nowhere and pulled me into a hug. I let out a frightened yelp "good morning my love! How about we walked to class together?" he took me by the shoulders and led me away. I looked over at kaito pleadingly, practically begging him to help me.

Kaito caught on and grabbed shuichi by the shoulder "hey buddy he's clearly not interested. Take a fucking hint!"

"this is none of your business" shuichi glared at him before trying to drag me away.

"actually scumbag it is!" kaito yelled before punching shuichi in the face.

I stared at him in disbelief. Kaito bent down to my level with a worried look on his face "are you ok kid?"

I lost control and takled him into a hug "yes I am and it's all thanks to you!" I said sobbing slightly.

"shh darling it's ok" he said gently stroking my hair "I'll always be here to protect you"
