Heading to the exit, y/n keeps her uber app open which her grandma told her to install so that she'll know when and where the vehicle she reserved is. The driver just arrived after the passengers on her plane were permitted to disembark and is now waiting outside.

The moment they saw one another, the driver who seemed like in 30s, immediately approaches and greets her and she did the same with a thank you at the end as he takes her luggage to put it in the backseat of the car.

LA here we go.

Now playing - Smile

As the car leaves the airport, the smile on her face grew wider and brighter. It's a new world for her. She was sitting in front since the view is much better.

Right after posting it on Instagram, the driver said. "This is the first time I saw someone take a picture of this highway." Y/n looks at him. "It makes sense because you're a tourist- it's just unusual, sorry if I'm talking, I hope you won't mind." He explained, still focused on the road.

"Um no, it's fine. It's my first time doing an out of country vacation so I want to capture as many moments as I can. And those that can make me happy in an instant.. I mean- you know." Y/n takes a deep breath her gaze now on the highway. "When this ends, at least you have something to look back that can make you smile the way you did at this moment." She left her earpiece dangling and the volume low as a respect to the driver that started the conversation.

"You got a good point right there kid, I've had passengers like you and most of them keep missing out on what is at present. All their attention glued to their phones."

Why does he sound like a pastor giving a homily one on one, what the heck?

Y/n didn't reply, even though she had a lot that she wanted to say. She's not good at dealing conversations with strangers, especially with expressing her opinion, but she agrees to what he said.

"Hope you won't mind if I listen to the radio.. and um, buckle up, this will be a long ride." He said and smiled at her, then put his attention back to the road while finding a station. She smiled, increases the volume of her phone since she feels the conversation ended.

There was a bit of discomfort. She knew it was her fault, but she was having a hard time saying another sentence. The car's speed increased a bit as it goes further into the core of LA.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

*Y/N's POV*

"Thanks for the ride and oh wait, here's your tip." He put the luggage down beside me and accept the tip. "Damn, thank you." At first he is shock but he end up grinning in joy. "So um, Hope you enjoy your vacation and have a nice day." After his enthusiastic remark, he gave a salute which made me giggle. "Have a nice day as well." I replied and gave a salute. As the car leaves, I shake my head after encountering another silliness.

The apartment my grandma picked is "Sherholt" near Beverly Grove and close to Burton Way.

Another wave of excitement and discomfort hit me. The rooms look good in the pictures but looking at what is in front of me... I guess not. The building's entrance is in an alley. If I were to end up going home at night (which is I'm sure will happen) this would be low key scary. I'm excited because I can finally experience what it's like to be here.

I went inside and while waiting for the receptionist. I called my grandma and chat my mom for help.

Few minutes later everything was settled and I'm now in the room somewhere on the 3rd floor.

"How's the trip, dear?" Grandma asked. "Kinda exhausting." I said, then sigh. "When will you arrive, by the way?" I look at the screen, waiting for a response. "Maybe tomorrow morning. I need to make sure everything is complete so that my little angel's vacation will be worth it." She said in a pampering tone. "Grandma, please stop doing that. It's uncomfortable - I'm not a kid anymore." I complained.

She laughs as usual. "I'm just happy and this is my chance to fulfill my role to you guys after a- um.. forever? Yeah, I think it's that." I put my bag on the table, turn on the tv and lay on the couch.

I let out a deep sigh as I feel relaxed on the soft cushion. "Now I can see your face clearly and you look really exhausted. I'll just end the call for the meantime, so you get a good rest for tomorrow. Ok? Love you."

"Love you too. Let me know when you're almost here so I can wait for you in the lobby."

"Okie dokie." She replied in her usual enthusiastic tone and the call ends.

I put my phone on the table and contemplate for a moment.

My eyes roam around, and the room is enough for two people. I can see the bed from here. In front of the bed is a small dining table for two and behind is a sink with a few cupboards below and above. There's a bathroom beside the supposed bedroom and where I am currently is the living room.

There's a table and tv in front and two green sofas on both sides that has the same color as the couch. There are also blinds that are currently closed which made the room dark even though I turned the light on when I entered.

It didn't take long for me to be asleep and not even realize it.
