Chengxin was sitting next to Rio once again that morning. She was smiling at him and talking to him, and he was too, but at the end of the day he started to feel so drained with everything. He wondered if he was feeling any better when he was constantly seeing Pandora and Haoxiang together almost every moment.
'So Chengxin, what do you want to do today before we go to the carnival this evening?' Rio asked him. The activity for that day was going to the carnival, and some people weren't crazy about it. Rio was one of them, she found it a bit childish but it wasn't like she had a choice anyway. Chengxin was just hoping they weren't going to ride a rollercoaster because that wasn't one of his favorite things.
'Mmm I don't know,' Chengxin answered in a bored tone, looking at the food which he wasn't even really eating. He took a glance at Pandora, and she didn't look very comfortable at the table. But at least she had her boyfriend to constantly distract her whenever she felt a bit uncomfortable.
'Are you okay babe?' Rio asked him, using a napkin to wipe his mouth even though there was nothing on it.
'I'm fine.' Chengxin forced a smile.
Everyone was looking in his direction, they were all curious about the new couple anyway.
'Hmm, trouble in paradise already?' Junlin whispered to Haoxiang and the two of them snickered.
Jiaqi glared at them. 'I heard that.'
Junlin and Haoxiang stopped talking and started to eat silently. Chengxin had heard it too, but he honestly didn't have the strength to say anything. After all, Haoxiang was still the winner and it seemed that wasn't going to change.
'Babe do you...' Rio started.
'What!? What do you want!?' Chengxin hollered in frustration. 'Stop talking for a moment! You keep talking!'
Rio looked at him in fear and swallowed hard. 'Okay.'
Once again everyone's eyes were on the two of them, and this time, Chengxin understood why. It was his fault for overreacting like that. He dropped his chopsticks and got up from the chair, marching out of the room and slamming the door.
'I'm beginning to feel like the most dramatic place on earth is this building,' Zhenyuan commented as he continued to eat.
'Ditto,' Jiaqi put his head in his hands and sighed. He started to wonder if this was really going to work out, or Chengxin was just too deep in love with Pandora that he couldn't even act out with Rio. Rio would probably not want to play this game again, and Jiaqi would understand if she decided that it wasn't worth it.
Pandora's cellphone rang in her jeans pocket suddenly. She took it out of her pocket and noticed that it was Nikita. The two didn't seem to be in good terms since the dinner, so it was quite odd for her to call her.
'Oh I gotta get this,' Pandora got up from the chair and walked into the living room so she could comfortably talk to Nikita. She answered the phone call. 'Hey,'
'Hey girl...how are you doing? I really missed you.' her tone sounded so different from the way she sounded at the dinner.
'Hey,' Pandora already felt emotional from the call even though they hadn't talked about anything much. 'How are you doing?'
'Fine except the fact that my brother is actually holding my cellphone to my ear,' she joked.
Pandora forced a chuckle, even though she didn't find it particularly funny. She found it rather sad and a reminder that she was the cause. 'I'm sorry about that.' She finally said.
