Pandora was pacing outside the emergency room door, while Chengxin was sitting on one of the chairs but looked extremely tense. The two hadn't talked ever since Chengxin had arrived to the hospital, except the conversation of him asking how Nikita is and she answering that they don't know anything yet.
When they had waited for quite a while, Apogee's manager made his way to the scene. He looked agitated as well, and Pandora knew things weren't looking very well for her. Still, that was the least of her worries.
'What were you thinking leaving the building and wandering onto the street!?' he blasted, looking between Chengxin and Pandora. 'Why!? You and I both know that's not allowed! It's wrong!'
Pandora looked at him full of guilt. 'It was all my fault. I got mad and went away. I...shouldn't have done that.'
'And,' Chengxin added, 'I convinced Nikita that we should go and look for Pandora. I'm sorry, I had a part to play.' His eyes were set on the floor as if his speech was written on it.
The manager ran his hands through his hair in frustration. 'Your attitude is problematic and I've told you this form the start! So you had to wait for this to happen for you to realize that you don't act right!?'
Tears started to leave Pandora's eyes as she listened to the manager's statement. The fact was that she felt it was true. If she hadn't left the house in the first place, this wouldn't have happened.
'Gosh I'm so disappointed in you.' The manager shook his head.
'I'm sorry,' Pandora apologized amidst tears.
Chengxin got up from his seat and held her. 'It's gonna be okay.'
'No it's not!' at this point in time she didn't feel like pushing him away, even though in normal circumstances she would have.
'She'll be fine.' he rubbed her back soothingly. Normally, the manager would have asked what was going on between them but he didn't even care at this point in time. He was frustrated and was hoping that Nikita would be okay.
Minutes turned into hours, still waiting outside the ER door. The manager had now taken a seat and seemed to be falling asleep, Chengxin now seated next to him biting his nails in nervousness time and time again. But Pandora was still out and about, pacing continuously. She was now out of tears, but that didn't mean she was alright.
'Have a seat,' Chengxin told her after a while. 'You've been pacing for such a long time...'
'I'm restless.' She answered without turning in his direction.
'I know you are. But take a small break.'
She hesitated, but soon she sat between Chengxin and the manager. She sighed and looked up at the ceiling in thought.
A few minutes later, the doctor walked out of the ER. Pandora immediately bolted from her seat, and Chengxin was the next to stand up as well. Once the manager was awoken by the sudden movement, he got up from his seat as well.
'Is she okay!?' Pandora asked him desperately.
'Hmm, the good news is she's alright.' he answered in a baritone voice. 'It's quite a miracle considering that she lost a lot of blood.'
'Thank goodness.' Pandora slightly smiled.
'But I have some bad news as well. Nikita fractured her spine pretty badly, so she's...paralyzed. She will never be able to use her arms or her legs again.'
'What!?' Pandora was the first to react, and Chengxin widened his eyes almost at the same time.
'Excuse me? Doctor? Even after surgery she...?' The manager started to ask.
