Before we knew it Christmas was coming up. Nick and I were having a competition to see who could buy the best present for the other person. To be honest I had no idea what to get Nick, but he seemed pretty confident that the present he got me couldn't be beaten. I remembered how much Nick liked watching rugby league and an idea came to mind straight away. His favourite team was the South Sydney Rabbitohs. I was going to try to get my hands on a ticket that would allow Nick to train with the guys and meet them too. Luckily enough, one of my cousins knew Greg Inglis, so once I called him he said that he could get the ticket for me with no problems. I was so excited.

It was Christmas Eve and my family and I were spending at Nick's house. Nick and I were sitting outside, looking up at the millions of lights shining in the sky. It was truly beautiful. I suddenly felt someone staring at me, obviously it was Nick. He always did that to me. I looked at him, our eyes met,
"Should we give each other our presents now?" Nick asked eagerly. I couldn't wait to see his face when he opened his present,
"Sure," I responded, getting more excited by the second. Nick pulled out a box from behind him, it was wrapped in gorgeous red wrapping paper that said I love you all over it. It was adorable. I started to rip the paper, starting to reveal a black box with a ribbon tied around it. After taking all of the wrapping paper off, I took the lid off of the box. I couldn't believe my eyes. Inside was a beautiful pink crystal with a gold chain. I couldn't manage to do anything else except hug Nick. He laughed at how excited I was, obviously thinking that he was going to win our little competition. I got the ticket that I had wrapped in green Christmas paper. I handed it to Nick,
"Oh yay! It looks like an envelope," Nick said in a sarcastic tone, making you laugh. He ripped the wrapping paper and read what the ticket said,
"Are you serious? You got me tickets to meet and train with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. You are the best girlfriend ever. I can't even explain how I'm feeling," Nick was laughing now and smiling even more than what he was when the doctors told him he could leave hospital. I was so glad that he liked his present,
"So who's the winner?" I asked Nick unsure of how we were going to decide. He stopped to think for a second and replied,
"I think it's fair to say that we both won," I smiled at the pointlessness of the competition if we didn't have a winner. It didn't bother me though, as long as Nick was happy.

The next couple of days went by quickly, leaving New Years Eve one day away,
"Do we have any plans for New Years Eve?" I asked my mum out of curiosity,
"Yeah we are going to watch the fireworks in the city with Nick's family. Are you happy to do that?" Excitement rushed through me. It was going to be my first time seeing the fireworks in Sydney,
"Yes! I can't wait! Thank you so much mum," I said practically screaming. That day I picked out what I was going to wear so that I didn't leave it until the last minute.

The next day I started getting ready as soon as I woke up. Nick texted me:
N - Hello beautiful! I hope u had a great sleep. I'm looking forward to tonight. Hope u r too. Love u x😘
G - Hey Nick, how wouldn't I be looking forward to tonight? It's going to be amazing but it will be even better because I'll be with u. Love u too x💘
Once I was dressed in my blue high waisted skirt and my black singlet, I started to do my hair. As usual I had no idea how to have it so I straightened it and added a gold head chain. My parents were ready to leave so we headed out. Before leaving though I put on some gold sandals. My mind raced as I thought of the fun I was going to have tonight with Nick. We were picking them up from their house and then heading into the city.
