I put on a fluorescent orange dress that came just above my knees and some heels,
"You look beautiful as per usual," Nick complemented me as he entered the room,
"Why thank you," I said smiling. Nick took my hand and we started to head to dinner. We walked along a path that was lit by lights in the two gardens that ran parallel to it,
"You know that I love you," Nick said stating the obvious. How wouldn't I know that. He tells me it every day,
"Of course I do. Do you know that I love you more than you love me?" I asked Nick. I knew that this would lead to one of those 'I love you more' arguments but I didn't care,
"I know that you love me but I think that the rest of that statement isn't true," Nick said kissing me on the forehead. Even when I wore heels he was still taller than me. I loved his height though and everything else about him,
"Oh come on, you know it is," I said trying to persuade Nick. He just smiled and shook his head as we kept on walking down the path.We soon got to the place we were having dinner at. I thought it would've been at a restaurant but to my surprise Nick had something else in store for us. There was a table set up with a red tablecloth and candles. It was overlooking the water and would soon be overlooking the sunset. Nick gestured his hand for me to walk up to the table. He pulled out a chair for me to sit in, so I did.
We sat there talking for a while and then a waiter came out of nowhere with our dinner. He placed the plates in front of Nick and I. They had steak on top of them with vegetables and mash potato. We started eating, sharing comments about how nice the meal tasted. After we had finished eating, the waiter came and took our plates away. We looked out over the water. It was so clear that we could even spot some lengthy fish and sea snakes. It was incredible,
"Grace, can I ask you something?" Nick said suddenly looking nervous. Thoughts rushed into my head. Was this going to be a good or bad thing? I pushed away my thoughts and answered Nick's question,
"Of course you can," I replied. Nick stood up and walked toward me. He grabbed my hand, pulling me out of my seat,
"Well we have known each other since kindergarten and we have been friends from the beginning. We got into a lot of mischief together and we have created a lot of memories. I will always remember the day when you confessed your love for me. It got us to where we are now. You have been there for me through absolutely everything and I couldn't be more grateful. After all of the hard times we have still managed to stay together, but only because we love each other. With all of that being said, I want to ask you a question. Grace, will you marry me?" Nick got down on one knee, holding a gorgeous ring out in front of him. A cage full of butterflies were just released into my stomach and tears of joy started to flow out of my eyes,
"Of course I'll marry you Nick!" I practically screamed. He put the ring on my finger and embraced me in a hug. It was the happiest day of my life.
