Fool's Gold

Chapter 12

I went into the shops a couple of days later with Lexi, Skye and Onika. We went clothes shopping and also saw a movie. It was great spending time with the people I love most. I was trying to take my mind off of Nick but a second didn't go by that I wondered where he was, what he was doing or who he was with. I tried calling him and texting him but there was never a reply. It made me even more anxious but it was just something that I was going to have to put up with until Nick could forgive himself, which I was hoping he would do soon.

When I was at the shops with the girls we ran into Lexi's new boyfriend. He was attractive and nice. I was happy that she found someone that she loved. We also played some basketball in Rebel Sports. We made a quick escape just before the manager saw us. It was a great day.

I hadn't spoken to Nick for about three weeks now. That was until he came over one day. I answered the door and saw him standing there with a beautiful red rose in his hand and an apologetic look on his face. My body filled with hope. Nick handed me the rose and came into my house,
"I've been thinking lately and I've finally forgiven myself for what I've done to you. I love you Grace and I hope you love me too," Nick spoke with happiness in his voice. I hadn't seen him this happy ever since he hooked up with that girl,
"Of course I love you too," I said to Nick embracing him in a hug. His bruises had disappeared and his cuts had healed. The old Nick was back and I couldn't have been more grateful. We spent the whole day together, just hanging out at my place. We listened to music, watched movies and just caught up on what had been happening in each other's lives lately. Although it wasn't much, this was probably one of the happiest days of my life.

The next year flew by. Everything finally felt back to normal. I was just living life like a normal 18 year old would. My 19th birthday was actually coming up in one week and as far as I knew I didn't have any plans. No one had even asked what I wanted. I just went with the flow and waited to see how the day of my birthday would end up.

It was my the day of my birthday and I had woken up to found a note on my bedside table. It read:
Good morning beautiful,
Happy 19th birthday! You're in for a great day. I've got some things to do but I will see you soon. Skye is downstairs making you some breakfast. Have a good morning x Nick
I smiled at this cute note. I decided to get up and walk downstairs. Skye was standing in the kitchen with a plate of pancakes in front of her. Pancakes were my favourite breakfast,
"Happy birthday Grace! You're so old now," Skye said as she realised I had entered the room. I sat at the bench and started to eat my delicious breakfast,
"Thank you," I said to Skye, showing my appreciation for both the birthday wish and the pancakes. Once I had finished eating Skye handed me a present. I opened it and it was a pair of new converse,
"Thank you so much Skye," I said once opening the present,
"No worries. I've got another note for you too. Have a good day. I'll see you later," Skye said handing me a note and then exiting the house. The note read:
I hope you enjoyed your breakfast! The next part of your wonderful birthday is getting ready for my surprise for you. All you have to do I dress nicely and hang out with Onika for a bit. See you soon x Nick
Onika walked through the door as soon as I had finished reading the note,
"Happy birthday bestie! I've got something for you," Onika handed me a present. It was some new diamond earrings. They were stunning,
"Thank you so much," I said getting up from my chair to hug Onika. I told her about how I had to get ready and I decided to have a shower. The only question that was in my mind was, what's the surprise that Nick has in store for me?

After my shower I walked into my room to get changed and saw that a beautiful pink dress was laying on my bed. A note sat on top of it:
I got this gorgeous dress for a gorgeous girl! Look on the floor for some new high heels too. Love you x Nick
I smiled at how sweet he was. I put on the strapless dress and the silver heels. They looked beautiful,
"Wow, you look stunning," Onika said to me. I thanked her for the compliment and decided to do my makeup and hair. I couldn't decide how I wanted to have my hair so I just straightened it and put on some light makeup. I was happy with how I looked but being insecure I was never sure of how I looked.

Onika and I talked for a bit until she had to leave, indicating that one of my other friends was probably going to show up. I heard a knock on the door, it was Lexi,
"Hey Grace, happy birthday! I'm here to take you somewhere but first I would like to give you this," Lexi handed me a present. It was a pair of new sunglasses,
"Thank you so much Lexi," I said grateful for the present I had just received. Lexi put a blindfold on me and we left my house for an unknown location. I felt the car stop. Lexi helped me out and took the blindfold off of me. We were at a park,
"Here is the last thing I'm giving you. I'll see you later," Lexi said as she handed me yet another note and she hopped in her car and drive off. I read the note :
I hope you have had a great day so far, Grace. Simply walk around the park, showing your beauty off to everyone around. I can't wait to see you. I already know that you are going to look stunning x Nick
I started to make my way onto the pathway that went around the park. After walking about halfway around the park I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist,
"Hello gorgeous. Happy birthday," Nick's voice filled my ears. I spun around to face him. He kissed me,
"Thank you," I said smiling. I noticed that Nick had something in his hand,
"Here you go, Grace," Nick said handing me the object that was in his hand. I opened it. It was a beautiful necklace that had a heart pendant on it. I looked at the heart more closely and it said my name on the front and G+N on the back of it,
"Thank you, Nick. I love you," I said hugging him. He smiled at the fact that I liked it so much,
"I love you too. Do you want me to put it on for you?" Nick asked. I said yes and he put the necklace on me. It was the best present I had gotten all day, but seeing Nick was the best part of the day so far.
