The next day I called all of my important family and friends to let them know that I was engaged. Everyone was happy for Nick and I.
I wanted to get my fiancé a present of some sort because I know it would've been hard to gain the courage to propose. Nick was still asleep so I decided to leave a note saying - Hey Nick, I hope you had a great sleep. Can't believe we are actually engaged. Love you heaps x Grace. I headed out of our villa and decided to walk to the nearest shops. They were only about a kilometre away from where we were staying, which made it much easier. I didn't have any idea what I was going to get Nick still. I had walked about five hundred meters and then I came to a road that I had to cross. It wasn't busy at all. I looked left, then right and started to cross the road. SCREECH! A car had just come flying into the street and a sudden pain hit my side, spreading all over my body. All I could see was darkness. My only thoughts were of Nick.
Nick's POV (point of view)
I had woken up to my phone ringing. When I had noticed that Grace wasn't in the villa I knew that something wasn't right. The caller ID showed Grace's name. I answered the phone,
"Hello?" I said, nerves in my voice,
"Hello Nick, I'm sorry to inform you that your fiancé Grace has just been hit by a car. An ambulance has come and they are taking her to the hospital. I hope that she gets better soon," My heart dropped as the police officer spoke the words that I dreaded most,
"Ok, thanks for calling me," I said and then hung up the phone. This was supposed to be a great holiday and now look at how it has ended up. I got changed straight away and took a taxi to the hospital. I didn't know how I was going to stay strong for Grace. All I wanted to do was break down and cry.I practically ran into the hospital. Seeing all of the white around me reminded me of when I was in hospital and how Grace never left my side, even if we were only 14. I was determined to find Grace and I wasn't going to leave her side until she was released from the hospital. I asked the receptionist where I could find Grace and once she told me I rushed to her room. I opened the door and saw her attached to tubes and some parts of her body wrapped in bandages. I looked at Grace's beautiful face and saw that her eyelids were shut. I couldn't believe that the love of my life had ended up here. I sat in a chair in the corner of the room and let out all of the tears that I had been holding back. I can't lose her.
